It’s gut wrenching watching her father give interviews on the news. He’s holding much better than I think I would under similar circumstances.

The pig farmer they keep talking about is extra creepy.

I'd like to say like 10%

But the reality is probably far lower than that

Better chance of being found alive, her, or the BR Lake Pontchartrain girl?

And 100% cooperative until they asked him to take a lie detector, which no one should blame him for.

If he is innocent, frick the media for continually plastering his name and face on the news.

Chances she is alive are sub 1%.

She’s a cute girl. Sucks there’s an underworld out there that takes life away. Really hope they find her.

As with just about all these missing persons cases, the longer it goes on, the less likely they'll be found alive.

Sad that so many young women are done in by sick bastards that have no regard for human life and think "Oh, I think she's really cute, let me abduct, rape and kill her so there's less chance I'll be caught".

The pig farmer is guilty of something. May not have anything to do with girls disappearance. But he’s guilty of something.

But you’re correct. The media has made him look guilty unfairly.

Why is so much resources being used on this girl? People go missing a lot and putting 40 investigators on one missing person case seems excessive.

Creepiest part is that the underworld resides in random rural places and is often latent for decades.

It seems like these guys aren't usually nationwide serial killers out prowling for victim #8. More often they're some dude who lived in your neighborhood for years and sees you in a vulnerable spot and decides now is the time to kidnap and kill you.

The reality is that people don't go missing like this that often.

They go missing addicted to drugs. They go missing when they're sex workers. They go missing and they immediately hone in on the boyfriend (negating an exhaustive search).

I won't pretend it has nothing to do with her being pretty and white. But more so, it has to do with public attention because this girl could be "your daughter." As far as we know she's not on drugs, not meeting random dudes on the internet, not in the sex industry, etc. People get freaked out in these situations because they can't differentiate her from them, and it makes them feel vulnerable, and it drives the public interest.

Okay I see now that she's a student at Univ of Iowa. If she was actually kidnapped from IC I would have said something different.

This is a pretty bizarre case nevertheless. Which is not too rare for rural IA.

Still, you ever put a ton of experts in a room, it's not very effective. You have people double/triple chasing the same thing, it's ineffective. It's a misuse of resources to appease the public mindset.

I'd also throw in the fact that sex trafficking is and has been a huge deal in Omaha. It really ramps up in the summer around the CWS. Since I-80 & I-29 go through Omaha that just makes it even more of a big deal.

This is a pretty alarming statistic on the matter: LINK

quote:

According to the Women’s Fund of Omaha, which is leading the effort against trafficking, 900 people are sold for sex online in Nebraska every month; about 75 percent show signs of being trafficked.
