People who live in Omaha go across the river to Iowa when they want to have fun.

Go to Iowa to have fun...

Think about that.

Not sure if living in Council Bluffs and commuting in is possible/worthwhile.

It's like a 5-10 minute drive from downtown without traffic. They've got casinos in CB if that's your thing.

I will add to this and to what I said earlier. If you zoom in on the map in council bluffs you'll notice the west side, closest to Omaha has gridlike streets, n-s...e-w. That is the more trashy part of town, its not bad, just poorer to lower middle class area. Further to the east, the streets start to curve and wind and drop the grid pattern. That's where it gets nicer.

Anywhere in the countryside north, south, east, or west around Omaha, in Nebraska or Iowa is good living and its quick to get to the city. The roads there were designed to handle the traffic. Only slow traffic is 5pm rush hour and it isn't bad at all.

Bonus question for extra credit:

How did Council Bluffs get its name? (You're disqualified if you have Google the answer.)

I almost caused a big wreck in downtown leaving work one day. I attempted to exit downtown using the same route that I came in on that morning. The problem was that all 4 lanes change to outbound from downtown from 4-6 or whatever

In the event of nuclear war, Omaha will be one of the first places to get nuked, so they’ve got that going for them.

Best chance to live in a bigger city without most of the big city problems (crime, traffic, cost of living). It's moving more liberal but isn't everywhere?

Close enough!

The town was named Council Bluffs after a site approximately 20 miles to its north where members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition had sat in council with the Otoe Tribe on bluffs near the Missouri River.

I would highly advise you to research the boys town incident from the 1980s.

Grew up in Ponchatoula. Got stationed at Offutt AFB, just south of Omaha, in 1994. Lived here in Omaha ever since. What questions ya got? I love it here. If you can get past the winters, Omaha is a great place to live. Lots of condos and apartments downtown for you young, single whippersnappers to live.

Ask away.

it has a Wikipedia page and it's quite a bizarre read. The entire idea of a satanic molestation cult was a bunch of lies, possibly started by a bitter ex-employee who had been fired. Some people served prison time for testifying falsely about abuse.

They were actually true. Plenty of documentaries that were well investigated and backed up with evidence but if Wiki is your reliable source, go for it.
