Tundras are hot commodities because they have 4 cats and dont need to be jacked up to get them. They're being hit all over the Houston area. I just installed plates to protect mine. Cheaper than an insurance deductible and dont have to wait 2 months for cats to be available.

It's happened several times at the plant I work in Norman, OK. Any truck is their target (Im sure its easier to crawl under a truck than a car). Sawzall them off during the day shift. Then they installed cameras in the lot. So at least they get notice that someone is doing it although I'm not sure how effective it really is since the installation of the cameras.

Sure, but all else held equal it's a lot easier to pull that kind of stunt without having to lug around a jack.

If they haven't already, they'll be hitting up the car dealership lots in the middle of the night.

We had a bunch stolen from our company trucks back in October. 2 were stolen one weekend then the other 11 trucks plus the 2 rental trucks we had to us to replace the first 2 trucks. So 15 in all. We were charged $1,500 a truck to have them replaced. Almost 2,500 for the trucks with DEF systems. We were still able to use the older trucks until we got them fixed. The trucks with DEF systems had to be grounded. Our yard sounded like a race track for a couple weeks

That article I read about a thief getting crushed while jacking an xverter.

Made my day.

Happened to the girlfriend's car last year, and 3 of our neighbors on the same night. It should be made illegal to buy catalytic converters from anyone except a dealership. Hers costed $1300 including installation, and the thieves get like $30

People caught stealing them should just be executed on the spot, then dropped off in whatever neighborhood they are from with a converter hanging around their neck

Yes, in 2019. Within site of the police precinct. I walked in and said what happened and officer just yelled back to his buddy “hey, we got another one.”

Ugh

Have been letting a buddy of mine park a couple of his work trucks at my house because anything he leaves at the office get their cats cut.

Sounds like an easy way to catch them if they come every single time something is left at the office

Mine was stolen off my 03 Accord. But Toyota Prius and Tundras are the most targeted cars.

Is that manslaughter in LA?

Possibly, you can't defend property with lethal force in LA.

Seems like you could make some easy legal money by buying up clunker vehicles for under 1,000 dollars with the Cats still intact, cut them off and sell them, then just take the vehicle and sell it to the scrap metal yard to recoup the cost to buy it
