Wife has been trying to decide between Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC. Likes drive of Audi, but styling and interior of Mercedes. Drove the new Acura RDX yesterday and seems like you can get a fully loaded one at good price. Seems similar to the others. Thoughts?

Subtle "wife can afford gas" brag.

We bought one last April. Wife likes it, but it has had to go to the shop twice with electrical gremlins. When it was about a month old it lost power when she was on the interstate and wouldn’t drive over 30 mph. Second time it would drive normal but had warning lights stating car wasn’t communicating with alternator and battery not charging. Kind of aggravating for a new $40K plus car. My biggest complaint is the default setting is for the ignition to shut off at every traffic light. You have to remember to turn the setting off every time you get in the car.

This is 90% of new cars. It is awful. Thank emissions standards. It prob improves mileage by 0.1 mpg or something

Just had to trade one in due to needing a larger vehicle with a new child. Lost our arse on resale value after only 3 years. Nearly 50% decrease in value, was loaded out with Advance package, low miles and still in great condition. Did our own research and it was legit. Will never buy another Acura.

I am not tall and I felt big in the RDX, we went with the MDX instead

I have the MDX. I was on the fence between the RDX and MDX and went mdx because there was more backseat legroom. My BIL had the q5 and traded it in within the 1st year because of reoccurring emission issues. I really like the glc and if my intent were to keep it for 100k miles or less, I’d go that way. The Acura isn’t flashy, but it’s fun to drive and will last forever.

SO had an RDX. We loved it. Very smooth ride. Zero issues. Only got rid of it because we needed more space for two small kids / car seats

There are a ton of low mileage newer model used RDX’s on the market here, so that makes sense. Used ones seem to be a really good value. We looked at one but it was too small. We liked the MDX, but wife is set on the Lexus RX.

I own a a very low mileage pristine 2009 turbo RDX (16 year old daughter drives). I Like it because it’s not too big and it has a nice quick engine. I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s a very nice handling vehicle and very comfortable. Not really distinctive in any way- just very, very reliable and comfortable.

Acura. “Good price”, cuz its not a luxury brand (thus expensive honda)

M-B & audi are luxury brand. Would go lexus rx, if not going full luxury. Would pick gle in m-b, big baller

I should say that ours was low mileage newer used when we bought it so we bought it for about 8k less than new was going for new during the same calendar year. So someone else had already taken the initial hit on it also.

Get the MDX. You’ll thank me later.

This coming off a Land Rover has been a dream.

...for the wife. Not my vehicle.

She has a highlander now. Wants something sporty and not as big. We only have one kid. I tried to get her to get the GLE. She did like the MDX but new version doesn't come out until this fall. She basically drives 3 miles roundtrip to work. We will prob lease since she now gets a car allowance through work. We generally use my truck for long trips.

Same. Only one kid and mine works from home. And, yes, the MDX is coming for a redesign, but they are making really good deals on the version out now, and she got one fully loaded for a great price. She really likes it, FWIW...

Go with a GLE. We got a 2020 back in December to replace a Q7 that was having tons of issues. Love it so far and the Mercedes customer service is 100x better than Audi.

Dont get an Acura. They're technology is archaic, might as well get a Honda for a better value. If you want a luxury SUV, go with benz or volvo.
