They did, during the Mitch Landrieu monuments fiasco. They were given carte blanche by NOPD as well, on orders of the Mayor, I would assume.
Antifa child went and pepper-sprayed a monuments' defender and not a thing happened to her. She's a student at Tulane, I believe. For the Jefferson Davis vandalism, er, removal, she and her mates were harbored at the Holy Ground, the pub on the corner.
NOPD was on stand down with regard to Antifa, but arrested any and all monument defenders who strayed even a little from the established lines/barricades OR responded to Antifa violence.

The mayor, police, and Antifa are all scum. It's insane that mobs of criminals are allowed to commit violence on Americans without any consequences.

Don't go to these protests and instigate them? It's pretty well established these right-wing citizen journalists go to these Antifa protests to instigate them and record their reactions so they can plaster it all over YouTube and Twitter to garner sympathy for their cause.
They both end up looking like the idiots they are.

Is it? The problem with your argument that just showing up to film (or showing up at all) is considered "instigating" in their minds. It's public property. You shouldn't be assaulted for being somewhere you have every right to be. That's not both sides looking like idiots. That's one side acting like crazy people.
