No sleep, having to miss work to bring them to the doctor, cancelling plans because the little one wakes up with a viral rash and has to go to the ER, etc. When you have experience with all of that, your opinion will change in regards to vaccinations.

Andrew Wakefield's paper did not confirm a link, and it stated that no cause was identified. Later, he stated that "parents should opt for single vaccinations against measles, mumps and rubella, separated by gaps of one year." So, he actually still said that kids should be vaccinated, just not with the MMR at once. Furthermore, politics had nothing to do with the retraction, and he was stripped of his medical license. Also, he was paid specifically to identify a link between MMR and autism after his "link" between Crohn's disease and MMR was debunked.

It later transpired in the General Medical Council hearing, as Deer had previously reported, that Barr had paid Wakefield nearly 450,000 pounds with money from the U.K. legal aid fund to conduct his 1998 Lancet study, all financial conflicts that he never declared to the Lancet.
So, he wasn't an autism expert, he was a GI doctor with experience in "linking" something to MMR but when that failed, he was hired to link something else to MMR.

You say that you are familiar with ideas of correlation and causation then with the above statement you prove that you don't understand them. The point is that because there is a correlation between 2 different data series that does not mean that a causal link can be made. Correlation can not confirm an causation. It can only be used to show that something is possible.
Fun fact: did you know that if you run a regression on any 2 trending data series that the model will show that they are correlated? They don't even need to be related. If you ran a regression on the increase in the incidence in autism and the increase in super bowl ad money they would be correlated because they are both trending. It doesn't mean that one is cause by the other. It's just a tool to be used in a larger context.

I don't get why pro vaccine people get mad at anti vaxxers. If you get the vaccine, then you should be immune to whatever. Isn't that how a vaccine works. So who cares if someone else doesn't get it. By getting mad that other people don't submit to forced inoculations, you are basically admitting that vaccines are not perfect and people have a right to question them and not get bullied into submitting.
Regardless of how you feel about vaccines. Do you really want the GOVERNMENT to be in control of what they can inject in your body??? When you are for forced inoculations, then it opens up a huge can of worms that they could totally take advantage of in the future. I'm not against vaccines, but it should always be my choice when and where I want my kid vaccinated, and I choose which is the safest brand, etc.
Regardless of how you feel about vaccines. Do you really want the GOVERNMENT to be in control of what they can inject in your body??? When you are for forced inoculations, then it opens up a huge can of worms that they could totally take advantage of in the future. I'm not against vaccines, but it should always be my choice when and where I want my kid vaccinated, and I choose which is the safest brand, etc.

Agreed. We've sent multiple students home this year due to whooping cough and it's the first time in almost 15 years I've been working with students either in a school setting or group home setting that I've seen it in that kind of frequency. Three were immuno-compromised kids who can't get the Tdap vaccine. One's pre-existing lung issue that will need a transplant has been accelerated as a result. Two were students who weren't vaccinated and there on a waiver.
The "choice" is a safety issue.

Because my kid doesn't get every single vaccination at once. So my 2 year old isn't totally vaccinated from retards with 4 year olds he may come in contact with.
