It is. Had chicken pox and measles as a kid, wasn't bad at all. I know kids who got them in their teens and they were really sick

Our parents used to send us over to play with kids that had chicken pox in the 80s so we'd get it young

Too many of these people are thinking measles is the same as chicken pox. Once could be deadly though rare and the other is basically just a nuisance for young kids.

I believe the measles #s were 1 in 1000 died before it was basically eradicated when the vaccine came out. That is rare but I guess not unthinkable.

Most kids got em really young. Couldn't be avoided. They would get around schools pretty quickly

Anti vax idiots have no concept of history and think the way things are now is how things always were. They don’t understand the horrors that diseases put our ancestors through. Our ancestors could only pray for the relief that we enjoy from modern medicine. It’s especially frustrating bc I have a medically fragile child and these morons are selfish enough to put kids like her in harms way.

When I’m in charge, there will be a mass raid on these parties. We’ll abduct the parents, throw them in the ocean with a gun in their mouth, and then get these kids to decent parents.

No problem with that...as long as they can assure that they aren't spreading that shite to people who do vax, I don't really care what they do.

however, I think that putting your child's health on the line for your political views is a pretty shitty thing to do.

Measles is deadly?
quote:

Measles is one of the leading causes of death among young children even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available. In 2015, there were 134 200 measles deaths globally – about 367 deaths every day or 15 deaths every hour. Measles vaccination resulted in a 79% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2015 worldwide. In 2015, about 85% of the world's children received one dose of measles vaccine by their first birthday through routine health services – up from 73% in 2000. During 2000-2015, measles vaccination prevented an estimated 20.3 million deaths making measles vaccine one of the best buys in public health.

What does the measles vaccine have to do with the government? I know I do trust science and the efficacy of the measles vaccine is overwhelmingly positive.

I'm trusting the medical professionals who worked their asses off for 8 years in college over the soccer moms who watched a 20 minute YouTube video

Before the measles vaccination program started in 1963, about 3 to 4 million people got measles each year in the United States. Of those people, 400 to 500 died, 48,000 were hospitalized, and 4,000 developed encephalitis (brain swelling) from measles.

Thanks. I honestly didn't know.

Looks around in public places everywhere you go, sees a bunch of people, 99% of them vaccinated with no problems.

Someone tells them that vaccinations can cause autism.. So they don't get their kids vaccinated. Everything about that makes sense.

Not going to help if it kills them.
