if you're that cop you wait that long?

because he's not a trigger happy meathead and doesn't wanna kill someone

no, it's what everyone should expect. Not necessarily waiting that long. but he made absolutely sure there was no other way out of the situation.

That time frame from initial contact to shooting gave that obviously disturbed man plenty of time to pull a weapon on the cop.

ok... he also could have come blasting out of nowhere and rushed the cop before he saw him, or any other number of scenarios.

Cop assessed the situation and applied force when it was necessary. This guy should be the example, not the exception.

in short yes. he waited until he saw the man reach for a gun until he opened fire. you think he should have just started shooting because the guy didn't comply with his orders to show his hand?

before the man pulled the gun, the officer didn't know if he had a gun. why should he have not waited to shoot? it was obviously a very tense and dangerous situation, but that's what LEO signup for and are trained for.

the man repeats several times"Are you ready" indicating that he was at any time going to pull his gun out and engage the officer.
And you agree that he waited too long.

I would say the unjustified shootings are the exception.

Calvin got what he wanted. The officer showed overwhelming restraint Calvin looked white to me.

and you as well left out a very important part.

Why did neither of you mention the 5 times or so where Calvin says to the officer "Are you ready?"

I know this may come as a surprise, but bullets have been known to penetrate blue jeans. A recent study shows that a gun in the pocket can be discharged, actually penetrate pants, and then strike a target. Of course, peer review will be needed to strengthen this theory, but it's worth noting.

yeah, and the officer had a gun pointed at him, so if properly trained any attempt to draw the officer already has all the advantage he should need.

it appears as if that advantage paid off for the officer in this instance but are you willing to say that this advantage would be successful 100% of the time?

Because if i'm an officer that's the kind of odds i would need.

Why do people like you expect every cop to be a Navy Seal with an IQ of 300?

GOD bless that police officer. He will feel bad for a while but he did his job perfectly. Calvin needs to see a shrink or he won't be on this earth much longer.

Why do you accept cops that have room temperature IQs that couldn't do anything else in life?

i would think properly trained would mean not allowing the guy to draw why in the frick should a cop take that chance that he will take out the suspect before he can shoot ...this isn't the wild west

The entire video is like a scene from the Wild West. It's not reasonable for officers to put themselves in such immediate danger. The circumstances matter.

If your approached by cops, you're an idiot if you don't follow their instructions right away. If you're innocent, it'll come out or they may let you go if it's a minor offense, which this appears to be at worst would result in a court summons, it was a general complaint no mention of deadly weapons by the complaintant. If you're guilty, "resisted arrest" changes how any future potentially innocent arrest/court date/traffic stop is percieved.

I don't care what race, comply with officers orders, it's your BEST option.

What does the media do when body cams start to justify the use of force? Besides ignore the stories, I mean.
