Someone else in this thread has already posted the statistics on dog bites by breed. Pits account for more than ALL OTHER BREEDS combined.

He will tell you that the data is flawed or the organization behind the data is biased. There's no use in arguing with a person who ignores facts or is just trolling.

It not just dog bites, the bigger picture is DEATHS!

Pit Bull is still responsible for the most fatal attacks in the U.S. by far, killing 284 people over that 13-year period - 66 percent of total fatalities. That's despite the breed accounting for just 6.5% of the total U.S. dog population. There is evidence to suggest that owners of vicious dogs are far more likely to have criminal convictions for violent crimes which may go some way towards explaining the Pit Bull’s disproportionate rate of fatal attacks. The Rottweiler came second with 45 fatal attacks recorded while the German Shepherd was third with 20.

That infographic that goes around is exaggerated. For one, pit bull is not one breed. It's the grouping of pit bull terrier, Staffordshire terrier, and American bully put together. Those numbers are meaningless until it's actually separated by breed.

What if pit bull terriers only account for the same number fatalities as German sheppards and Staffordshire terriers are the dangerous ones? You can't say based on that graphic.

Nit-picking. The link I posted is from Forbes, not "Ihatepits.com".

Peruse thru the stories of the deaths. What breed over-overwhelmingly is noted in these stories?

Let me help you out with a little logic before we go down the "it's not the breed, it's the owner" excuse. Do you not think there are shitty owners of all breeds? If so, why does one breed, always out-distance all the other breed COMBINED in fatal attacks?

Damn son...you dense? Not made up stats abd any news sourse can provide info. Humans killing humans is called murder. Pit bulls only kill a couple hundred people each year and humans kill 10's of thousands in USA alone...hundreds of thousands for the world.

?

Yes. That is how stats work. Are there 330+ million Pit Bulls in the U.S?

A "rate" is not based upon the raw numbers ALONE

So then the answer to the question is...YES, you are very dense! Let me explain to you how math works. If the sample group that kills in the hundreds is significantly smaller than the one that kills in the 10,000's then you are thereby at a greater chance of being killed by the humans when you walk out the door. Now if you are in a yard with 1 pitbull and 1 human...statistically you are at a higher chance of the pitbull killing you. However I would bet good money that if that human has had the misfortune to spend any time with you, then the 2 of them will likely kill each other over the chance to get at you! I will admit that is pure conjecture on my part based on my experience with you.

Here are some more good stats for you with source. Educate don't hate!

Obviously, it's a world-wide problem.

Countries that have enacted regulation on pit bulls (or some deviation):
**In 1991, Singapore prohibited the entry of pit bulls into the country.
**In 1993, the Netherlands banned pit bulls.
**In 1997, Poland enacted legislation enforcing pit bull owners to display "clear warning signs" and keep the animal behind reinforced fencing.
**In 2000, France banned pit bulls. The goal was to let the breed "die out."
**In 2001, Germany banned pit bulls.
**In 2001, Puerto Rico banned pit bulls.
**In 2003, New Zealand banned the importation of pit bulls.
**In 2004, Italy banned pit bulls.
**In 2009, Australia prohibited the imports of pit bulls.
**In 2009, Ecuador banned pit bulls as pets.
**In 2010, Denmark banned pit bulls and pit bull breeding.
**In 2014, Venezuela will ban pit bulls.

Please note, that this article is from 2014. Many more countries have banned them since them.

Nice link to a Pro-Pit advocacy site.

Here's the thing about statistics. You can cherry pick data and conclude that the stats concur with your intended outcome.

Looking at the stats from that site (there is no link to where they got those numbers) I can concluded that a Pit-bull type dog has killed far more people than all the other breeds listed. Also looking at that chart, I can also conclude that a malamute is more likely to kill someone than a pit. Then I ask myself, when's the last time I saw a malamute? Hmmmmm.....not sure I have ever seen one in person, but I have seen a shite-ton of pits.

Dogs bite. It IS their defense system.

You're a fool if you let your children around an animal that you know may bite, and if he does, will maim or kill your child.

Nah man, it’s all a big conspiracy against those dogs and their owners. Frankly it’s inexplicable. Why do people hate these normal dogs so much?

this is like saying good riddance everytime a wolf or bear dies. How about instead of wishing the whole breed to die people stop trying to turn them into goddamn house pets. Same goes for all work dogs. They can be useful for certain jobs when trained correctly

ITT we pretend how the dog was raised has nothing to do with it because the nature/nurture debate never made it to the "BAW GAWD THEY KILLIN MACHINES" crowd.

Must have problems reading. They literally have a section on that page titled Sources and Data, with a link to the CDC study cited.

Yes, my link is to a Pro-pit site that published the study conducted by the CDC, peer reviewed and published by the American Veterinary Medical Association. The source of the study is linked right next to the chart so you are "fake news"-ing me! And yes, statistics can be cherry picked to create the outcome wanted and the potential for inconsistencies for reporting, breed types and mixes are addressed within the study.

And yes, you have seen more Pitbulls than Malamutes because (Alaskan) Malamutes are a northern climate dog that does not adapt well to a warm climate. The difference in total dog population is also addressed. You people make too many decisions based on emotion...in particular fear. Because the stats are quite clear that if you walk into a yard with a dog line up of an Alaskan Malamute, Chow Chow, Saint Bernard, Husky, Great Dane, Rottweiler, Doberman, Mastiff and a Pitbull...the percentage is higher that each one of those other breeds will want to kill you before the Pitbull.

My question for you is what kind of upside do these dogs have other than the generic pit owner response of “loving, sweetest dog ever” etc? Their genuinely ugly dogs, so it can’t be looks. And then the liability of having these trashy dogs rip someone up? Just don’t get it

I find that trashy people make trashy choices, It’s that simple
