So basically you have to realize the MCAS is screwing you over, bypass it, and then hurry up and spin the trim wheel into a position that will let you properly control the plane without applying 130 pounds of force to the yoke? And this has to happen within the space of a few seconds?

The what about the kids argument is so tired. What's the number of planes that have flown, now how many schools have plasnes crashed into?

Those of us out here who aren’t pilots but who fly frequently read these descriptions of the problem and glean that there is this safety system on these planes that overrides the pilots and the override will either save us or kill us, but nothing in between unless the pilots turn it off.

That isn’t very comforting.

when I was interviewing for my job, there was a three phase interview, if you got to the third phase of the interview was a sim session in an old Boeing with a similar trim system as the 737, part of the session was to roll the trim full forward and apply max thrust on all four engines and maintain level flight, then full aft on the trim and do the same, after the sim you would go upstairs to sit in front of a Captain's board for a grilling, when I was up there, and I had other friends tell me the same, the female interviewees that were in the room would be taken out of the waiting area and would be brought back in about a few minutes, we later found out that none of them could physically hold the jet level in the trim tests but the sim pilots were told to take them back in and make sure they "passed"
