Also....they are in peds so they are usually super nice people and very easy to get along with. I mean...they are actually friendly to nursing staff :gasp:

We have a peds surgeon like that at our hospital. Great surgeon and really easy to talk to. He also has two kids at home. Most of the other peds surgeons are dicks.

In my experience, surgeons are the fighter pilots of the medical world, they all suffer from IAJAM and generally got into surgery to limit their interactions with conscious patients.

There are always exceptions...I've worked with surgeons of different specialties that were very nice to other staff. But the "they are massive assholes" stereotype exists for a reason.
