PARK SLOPE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An apparent argument over not saying "thank you" for opening the door of a Brooklyn smoke shop ended with a 37-year-old man fatally stabbed late Tuesday.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. at Park Slope Convenience on 4th Avenue in Park Slope.

“ It was just about not saying 'thank you' for opening the door for him," employee Kharef Alsaidi said as he reopened the bodega.

Alsaidi said the victim opened the door for the suspect and then asked, "Why don't you say, 'Thank you for opening the door'?"

The suspect responded, "I didn't tell you to open the door for me."

The verbal dispute quickly escalated to a physical altercation that spilled outside the store, and the victim is said to have taunted the suspect, telling him, "Stab me if you can do it."

The suspect grabbed a knife from his bicycle and stabbed the victim the abdomen and neck, according to authorities.

The city so nice they names it twice

Manhattan is the other name

Starting to realize this is way too vague of a reference to use, it’s from The Office. Shortly after Michael says this he proclaims that he is getting himself a New York slice then walks into Sbarro.

I mean he wasn’t wrong. He died on that hill though.

This almost happened to me recently. I was leaving a shitty chain restaurant (my wife begged me to go) and there was a crowd of people around the door. I walked out and this huge dude yells at the top of his lungs "YOU"RE WELCOME". Apparently angry because he held the door open for me and I didn't say thank you.

I didn't even see the guy. It was an honest omission on my part. The guy looked at me like I just killed his children or something. I just got the frick out of there as quickly as I could.

People are just so angry these days over nothing...

I know this is the OT, but you don’t have to be contrite about going to a chain restaurant. Eat where you want.

Anyone who claims that this country isn’t vastly different from what it was prior to 2020/COVID is lying to himself.

I always say thank you to someone who holds the door for me if I'm walking in or out. But I'm also not a piece of shite.

One thing I HAVE been guilty of doing lately is saying "Your Welcome" to people I hold the door for who don't say anything... usually POC. The more I think about it, I probably need to knock that shite off. This ain't the BR to teach manners in. I'm just trying to survive until I can leave and I won't be able to if I die in a Circle K or an Exxon.

Justified. POS who don't acknowledge you holding the door likely don't return their cart to the cart corral either. The world is better off without them.
