There should be a rule that in order to run for a judge position you have to pass a law knowledge test
That assumes she did this out of ignorance but it seems at least as likely she knew her ruling was wrong and made an effort to disguise it and manipulate the outcome in spite of the law and her responsibility to the constitution. That's exactly who the democrats on the senate are steering through the judicial comittee these days so more of this to come under Binden appointments. Alternative explanation that she is ignorant may also hold water.

Looking at this judge….what a shock I tell you

Judge Ray represented her son, Nelson D. Taylor Jr, in an alleged string of burglaries and rapes in November 1995. Taylor Jr. pled guilty to breaking into the homes of girls he knew from school and raping them. Ray is still named as an attorney representing Taylor Jr., according to court documents.
This was at Baton Rouge High

Apparently the bar exam is not a good enough obstacle.
The bar exam tests only for “minimum competence.”

quote:quote:La Supreme Court regulates Judicial conduct. By the tone of their ruling, discipline is likely.
So what about repercussions to the judge? If she isnt punished, her actions wont change.
This. From above:
quote:
At a minimum, the action by the district court judge achieved the opposite of what is required by Canon 2.
There's no way they mention the Canons of Judicial Conduct just because a judge got something incorrect / made a mistake. They're saying the judge did something unethical, clearly wrong, against the rules for judges. Maybe they're just firing a shot across her bow, or maybe they're referring it to the Judiciary Commission for a possible sanction against her.

Legislative branch being corrupt and ignorant is somewhat understandable, the executive branch is insane and actively working against our best interests, and the judicial branch is proving to be broken and politicized to the hilt. The checks and balances are compromised.
Unbelievable how far we’ve fallen so fast. MAGA is a far more obvious and pertinent theme now than it was in 2016,
Guess it’s up to the military or LE sector to save it…oh wait, we have psychotic middle aged men playing princess in the Pentagon while the intelligence groups are entrapping citizens into committing a toothless “insurrection” for the sake of the political class.
It was a great ride, boys

There are people who armed themselves with law degrees and then got elected who are now "getting back" at society.

"Allegedly" is the key word here. What proof do we really have? The word of a buffoon?
