Seeing the dog cry and die was the worst part.

There’s the problem. Capable, cool-headed people rarely decide to become cops.

The problem is careless pet owners. No leash, no fence dog left one yard and ran into another yard. It's amazing the lack of personal responsibility people on here have.

That dog was aggressively going after that cop. I love dogs and never want to see one hurt but this isn't on the cop.

The lesson to be learned in all of this is that you need to think long and hard before you call the police state into your life.

The owner of the dog has been blasting the officer on X about how last month he was accused of running over a dog.

To me this makes it look even worse on the owner. So you knew the cop allegedly ran over a dog and yet you didn't take action to keep your pet off the street and out of a situation? SMDH

Cop haters will love this.

Dog should have been on a leash.

Jesus. As someone who just buried his dog last week, this made me nauseous. Especially with the kids having to watch their dog die right in front of them. There were so many better ways to handle that situation in the cop's case. Was he not carrying a taser? I would think that would be the first thing deployed in that situation.

How was the owner to know it would be that cop who showed up at her house, or even that he was coming if someone else called them? And was this dog part of the 4 that were roaming free someone called about? The dog was playing in their yard with the kids when the cop rolled up.

seems like they would keep bear mace around for these sort of situations, especially when approaching some kids and their dog and knowing that's what he was called out for.

Exactly. Go to the 0:12 mark in the video. That's when the cop fired. The dog, the mom, and both kids were directly in the line of fire when he shot the dog. This could have been much worse.

Not that it would be that cop, but the fact that a cop ran over a dog should have triggered him to make sure his dog was safe from being run over by anyone.

The kids and the dog were in the common alleyway (street) when the cop initially pulled up. He told them to go put the dog up.

Allegedly, no.

Of course because she doesn't want to accept the blame. She is the reason why the dog is dead.

Correct. Breed of peace must be eradicated.
