I don't even really like aliens from other countries, having a bunch of fuggly arse outer space aliens all up in my grill is gonna suck.

Not to mention that there are potentially millions or billions of other civilizations out there and we are just too stupid to find any of them.

We aren't stupid slick. It is impossible to probe distant planets when they are light years away. You can't travel faster than light. You can't even travel at the speed of light without infinite mass. I would bet that there are and have been countless civilizations in the observable universe but the sheer distance between the stars make it all but impossible to travel between them.

Astronomers estimate 80-100 billion habitable planets in the universe. If that number is off by say, 40 billion, that's still hard to believe that not one of them besides ours has life.

...with those odds, I would suggest that the fact we haven't run into other life is very meaningful.

Star Trek is real. The movies are simply sent back in time.

FWIW I'm watching Preacher, a show on AMC and without spoiling...

They get to the end of the first season and they "call" heaven. An imposter acts as God until he is snuffed out by Preacher.

The idea is that God is missing and no one knows where he is. he might be trapped on Earth somehow, or elsewhere.

Anyways, it's meant to be parody but it had me thinking, what if God really was trapped/missing/stuck somewhere and that's why a lot of weird shite is going down. Someone/thing found a loophole and trapped him on Earth.

Absurd as it sounds, makes you wonder.

Maybe we are just too stupid to have figured out how to do it yet?

The link quoted in the main article cites its source at LINK

That's not even Anonymous's real website, LINK is the official website. And this story isn't found anywhere on their official site.

Who's to say that they haven't been observing us all along, but just keeping a safe distance?

I am pretty sure the evidence we have that suggests the possibility of a habitable planet is based on what we can see, meaning potentially millions of years in the past. The planet may not even exist any longer should we find a way to fly a ship to it.

Well that's one way to look at it. I personally don't believe that to be the case however. I mean the laws of physics are what they are. Any object with mass simply cannot travel that fast. I think that is the reason why we haven't been contacted by an advanced alien species. Maybe sone day....

Not when you start to understand distance. Also, all matter within the universe clumped together in a huge spider web type shape. No one knows why, but we have massive areas of nothing. Just black darkness. Navigating around the known universe is impossible. Hopefully we can find answers on the quantum level, but we are a long way off. So it is reasonable that advanced people are thriving, and installer travel is just not realistic. Visual contact seems more viable.

No, that's the point. If you are playing the odds card on life (extremely reasonable), then pointing to the fact that we've never seen other life is pretty telling.

In other words, even if life exists, we'll never experience it as evidenced by the fact that we've never experienced it yet.

You basically just described "Dogma".

Most exoplanets being studied right now are within 40 light years of us or so. We can't detect planets in other galaxies right now but when we can, yes sir we will see them as they were millions of years ago.

Hey let's make Preacher but not really use any of the characters and make it Dogma .
