This line has been fuel for Ancient Alien theorists.
Does God have other God bros? Why did Abraham's God say he was the one true God? Why is the first commandment to make sure you don't follow any of those "other" assholes? Are there more we should be worried about?
Or was/is "god" an alien(s) who genetically engineered humans by splicing their genetic material with the apes or cave men and taught them language / engineering (fire anyone? Prometheus?).
One is no more believable than the next

because the bible itself is multilayered. As we continue to learn more about our creation, about how we work, about how the universe works, we can examine the bible as a text and see that it continues to fit.
Imagine thousands of years ago explaining cell replication, or time itself and how it appears to act differently in different environments. The bible does these things in genesis and in a way where the least inclined among us can comprehend.
Look buddy, believe what you want, America and all, but don't be a douche because you believe one thing and are not open to the beliefs of others. The bible as a text has stood the test of time, and as we learn more, it continues to prove that it had answers, but we could not decipher it. For me, Science and Catholicism go hand in hand.

Yes I would, because if something with a 10,000 IQ started telling me things I would probably consider their views over whatever I've formed in my lifetime. I think most atheists and agnostics would be ecstatic if beings that are as superior to us as we are to ants showed up and said yes it is exactly like it is written in that book, but if they said no those books are nonsense you would "examine" how they feel that way and after this examination compare your conclusion? It's fascinating to me that people who spend their whole lives devoted to a superior being they can't see could encounter actual superior beings and if those beings said something that contradicted a book they would say whoa hold up explain yourself.
If they said it was exactly how it is spelled out in that book, I would examine the book even further and ask for additional explanation.
It amazes me that ANYONE would accept what anything says without examination, the bible included.

But unsurprisingly, there is a rather significant caveat to that claim. In fact, what the researchers in question say they have actually proven is a theorem put forward by renowned Austrian mathematician Kurt Gödel -- and the real news isn't about a Supreme Being, but rather what can now be achieved in scientific fields using superior technology.
I'm not saying that science has disproven the existence of God. When I say science and logic, I'm talking about science explaining the causes of many of the miracles spelled out in the bible (which were not miracles, just their way of trying to explain weird things that we now better understand).

When your parents told you not to stick a fork in the electrical outlet, did you still examine?

As always with this topic the discussion inevitably comes round to Religious posters maintaining that God is the superior being while scientists maintain that superior alien beings means God does not exist
The hypotheses that superior alien beings do exist and have interacted with humans is not mutually exclusive with the hypotheses that God exists!
I believe in superior alien beings and I believe that God made those superior alien beings!

God can't even create one world without problems.

That's a pretty terrible example. It is scientific fact what will happen in that instance.

obviously comparable, light socket, the creation of the universe...

Atheists are the SJWs of thelogy. They just can't accept that people don't agree with them...
Lol. Remind me the last time an Atheist started a war against Christians, Muslims, Jews. Or tried to wipe out an entire religion with genocide?
People have been killing in the name of religion because someone doesn't agree with them.
All religion does is tell you how your relationship with God should be and that any other way is wrong.

I guess its 2-fold.
1)The notion that with an infinite(or near infinite) number of possibilites, and outcome is necessary or likely isnt really relevant. Its either out there or its not. The statistical probability doesnt really matter. Like tell the guy who gets struck by lightning twice how unlikely it was, doesnt matter.
To extend this further, you alway hear that if you had an infinite number of chimps banging on and infinite number of typewriters they would eventually type out the entire works of Shakespeare. This is both statistically true, and completely stupid.
2)If there are an infinite number of planets and therefore and infinite number of possibilities of the way things you could find, id say you are probably going to find what you arent looking for and not what you are.
But we live on a petri dish of a planet and like .00000000000000000009% of the stuff ever created on this place is unintelligent.

If a being traveled here at faster than light speed or bent spacetime to get here, breaking all known laws of physics, with intelligence and understanding exponentially more powerful than anything humans could comprehend, I probably wouldn't engage the dude in a debate based off of some books I read, or some classes I took, or the fact that I have a higher IQ than other species on my own planet. What I'm curious about is at what point if confronted by something far superior would you and others let go of beliefs formed here on Earth based off of human interpretation and hit the reset button.

I for one welcome our new space overlords.

Coming from a Catholic... Can't really argue with that!

when I am convinced otherwise. I can't speak for anyone else. I believe in a higher power, a God if you will, and I believe in intelligent design. I believe in science and I believe in examining any and all findings in order to seek out absolute truth.

I don't even really like aliens from other countries, having a bunch of fuggly arse outer space aliens all up in my grill is gonna suck.
