They will quickly correct you and let you know that they only get about 2 months and they also have to attend "numerous" workshops during the summer....a whopping 3 days maybe. The horror.

My wife is a teacher but wasn’t always. Her degree is in accounting and at one point she was part owner in an auditing firm. She got burned out, stayed at home for a couple years then went and got alternate certification to become a teacher because she wanted to do something where she felt she was making a difference.
Fast forward to now and she is absolutely miserable in her job a lot of times. She loves the kids and is the only reason she still does it. Some of the kids are bad as hell and they can’t do anything about it for fear of lawsuits or Facebook posts bitching about them. Teachers’ hands are tied by admin so even if they try to discipline the kids, it gets shot down at the office. She gets messages all hours of the evening asking why little Johnny got a red mark. “He never acts like that at home!!!””” Blah blah blah. I can see how teachers hate their jobs these days and can’t wait for summer

The salaries are published online and you know what you’re getting into and why.
Most teachers would take the 55K and summers/holidays off, and never complain, if they had parents and admins who supported them / didn't try to work against them, politicians who constantly want to manipulate the curriculum, and kids who are shitheads.
A 21 year old chick in college knows the salary she will get as a teacher, but they don't teach the other issues in college.

End of may can’t get here soon enough!”
With support from fellow teachers or relatives:
“Almost there!”
“Poor thing, hang in there!”

One of our HS admins saw me the other day, and commented that they are looking to hire a business teacher, and would I be interested.
I love helping my clients and teaching them far more than I love filling out tax returns and dealing with the IRS / state revenue agencies.
But even setting aside the massive paycut... I could not deal with the parents and the admins.

I assume people like the OP are parents who are pissed their kids are going to be home all summer.

this. this is why. parents who think school is a daycare.
I mean. It serves the same purpose as daycare with an added benefit of learning.
Are they not supervised all day long?
How do you determine who the parents are that think it’s daycare?

Go back to doing what she did before?
I constantly see people saying how hard teachers have it, but nobody is forcing them to be a teacher?
It’s the same for any person with a shite job they hate. Do something to get out of it.

My wife taught for a few years at a private school but the pay was shite. They got 10-11 weeks off during the summer. I saw some teachers complaining that they really only get about two weeks off during the summer because they're getting the classrooms ready for the new school year.

As with police officers , teachers are the most underpaid jobs in the country.

100% true.
Now it’s time for the, “Well, you chose that career,” responses. In reality, the career that I chose 28 years ago is not the present job that I’m in.
The reasons for this thread include, but are not limited to:
1) School is almost out, and it destroys some of your souls that teachers will have a few months off.
2) As mentioned, many are completely dreading the additional time that they will have to spend with their own children as state sponsored daycare goes on hiatus.
3) The OT has made it a “thing” to shite on teachers.
As a teacher, I agree with many of your gripes about teachers. I have colleagues that I wonder how they function as adults much of the time, but I’d venture that I could walk into any workplace and find similar people within a few weeks.

It takes 2 months to get a classroom ready? Are they building desks by hand and installing all the electric?

I have a couple of friends that are “educators” that are retiring this year at 51 on full pensions and healthcare forever.
Poor guys.
Poor guys.

Lol some of y'all can't spend 2-3 hours in the evening with your own kids without having a few beers first. Try hanging out with 25 other people's kids and you can't kick their arse for being little shiteheads.
So parents are able to send their kids to the prinicpal's office when they're being a shite head?
