This isn't a thing, veterans aren't bothered by fireworks.

The Karens on Nextdoor door will be bitching up a storm tomorrow in my neighborhood about their dogs and fireworks being illegal in EBRP. It's like clockwork twice per year.

My dog is a veteran. Every 4th of July he breaks free and we find him attacking the shawarma place on the corner.

The first time LSU used fireworks in Tiger Stadium — around late 70s or early 80s — they led off with four of those loud flash bombs in rapid sequence. I flashed back to the Nam instantly thinking it was a 50-cal and caught myself before hitting the deck.

I didn’t even know that was still inside me. So, yeah, some of us still cringe at sudden, unexpected booms.

Nowadays at Tiger games and on special occasions I brace myself but it still harkens back. shite like that is hard wired in us. Some are more sensitive.

Yep, I still do, but those noises are anticipated. However, every once in a while someone will shoot a .338 Lapua or the like nearby and I’ll wince a bit.
