We opted out since our kids go to private school. Still pay more for tuition but it definitely helps.

You can’t opt out in EBR.

There has to be an absolutely monumental amount of grift, and probably just outright embezzlement and fraud.

Absolutely Sickening.

Not necessarily. New taxes & renewals pass all the fricking time here, even on the big ballot elections. But when there’s random election in March with not much to vote on except tax renewals, not many people bother to show up. The election this past March had 4 EBRPSS renewals, mostly dealing with teacher salaries, etc. and 14% of voters showed up…probably all teachers and their families.

Makes sense. Yeah I can see that, especially for some obscure election in the middle of the year. Only the people who want it are likely to show up and they’ll all be yes votes.

Wish we could pass a law that tax proposals can only come up when there is a state wide election (governor/SoS/Treas, ect) or federal election (House/Senate/President)

I don’t think it would matter here, honestly. There’s tax proposals & renewals on big ballot elections all the time that pass easily. This state can’t so NO to taxes. I honestly don’t know the last proposal or renewal that was voted against in EBR.

Get a new account. You just draw a line through the school charges and put “private school tuition” on the bottom when you total up the new amount.

Don't forget about Tasha Clark-Amar's little empire, the Council on Aging.

Worth it. Count me in as a BREC supporter.

They do need to jettison some of their properties though if you ask me

The majority of BREC properties need to be offloaded

I don’t mind supporting BREC. The parks in my area are nice and they offer tons of activities and provide some of the most affordable summer & holiday camp options.

I just love seeing how much I pay for shite shows like EBR schools and CATS.

The transit tax is a stright-up welfare payment. The only people who value CATS are drug dealers and homeless that need A/C in the summer.

They don’t need all the tax dollars that they get. They have a big surplus.

And how do we know if they are not bloated with a lot of bureaucrats?

I have no problem paying for St. George Fire. That’s a phenomenal service.

I don’t love the BREC allocation, but it’s way better than a lot of parish services and they do a good job with their properties I frequent. It’s not one I have any desire to fight.

CATS, COA, etc. are all lining the pockets of local deadbeats. I’d rather give more money to St. George Fire, EBRSO, EMS, etc. as I’m much more likely to need their services than CATS.

This clarifies nothing bro. Your accountant can’t just magically allow you to “opt out” of paying certain line items on your property taxes in EBR.
