Marvel and DC have been falling over each other trying to decide the race, gender, and sexuality of well-established cultural icons. Everything is rehashed, rebooted, and recycled. Not a single inspired idea nor an original one for that matter.
Meanwhile, the Japanese have been steadily pumping out interesting and engaging stories and why it's become more and more popular.

But I have 4 kids who do, so I get a glimpse of some of this stuff. The story lines are pretty deep and interesting. They always have annoying characters, but so do the "adult" movies.
