Deadly bite resulting from the admixture of venom and bacteria

This has been debunked. They're not venomous and their saliva doesn't contain an inordinate amount of bacteria.

I got distracted and didn't see the entire gif. In an enclosure it is death for both animals. On an open plain the cat wins every time.

komodo vemon

"Professor Fry said attacks on pigs and deer were extremely successful, with about 75 per cent bleeding to death within 30 minutes and a further 15 per cent dying within three to four hours from venom in the salivary glands of the Komodo dragons."

Right that may have happened but, but stalking for days is not the norm or even close to it, and bacterial infection is not the mechanism of death.
Kills are mostly due to thrashing bite causing shock and bloodloss with an added measure of venom.

It’s still speculated that glands in their mouths secrete a protein that could be considered venom. I specifically said admixture of venom and bacteria because it’s still debated the extent to which each plays a role, but their combination is unquestionably deadly, as their bite is unusually infectious.

I consulted with the experts at the Institute on that one.

I misspoke.

The killing of their due to virulent saliva thing has been debunked. There's no consensus on if they're truly venomous or not.

Consult other experts and they might suggest it is moreso the dirt already present on the prey that causes the infection, not the bacteria from the Komodo's bite.

The cat would kill the dragon; but as many have said, it may suffer a fatal bite in the process.

Becasue "Open plain" is the fighting arena, would they really even fight? Wouldn't they both asses the situation and look for less dangerous prey?

Yes but that's not a fun hypothetical.

Welcome to the thread about animal fights - this fight featuring 2 combatants that would rather just avoid each other.

Komodo really have no predator to look out for.

they dont even have to do more than just take one bite and the other species is dead. their saliva is deadly, it's basically bacteria x100000000000000000000000000000000.

And when they smell blood, they go fricking nuts, climbing trees to get their prey.

I remember when crocodile hunter went to komodo island, and while getting away from one, his leg got cut open by a tree branch, and they started to go into a frenzy and were going to swarm. It was obvious, camera was cut and everyone got to safety and got the f out of there.
