My Dad purchased our first microwave for Christmas 1986. It was one of my Mom's presents. I remember it because my Dad came close to beating my ten year-old arse for almost ruining the surprise. I believe he told me I was the "...dumbest sumbitch he'd evah seen." Miss you Dad!

A fricking fridge or washing machine shouldn’t need to be connected to the internet to function

We sold my grandparents house 4-5 years ago. When we did a final walk through I realized everything in that kitchen was from the 80s or older and it all still worked.

This was my grandmother's kitchen in the Redemptorist neighborhood. Tile was green/white marbled, and fridge was behind the photographer (microwave was where the fridge is). Brown cabinets, two ovens on top of each other, just a stove-top. She had an island to the left, with two barstools. One spun very fast and I am pretty sure I drove her crazy spinning around like that. Good memories of eating roast, rice & gravy after Mass every Sunday.

In ‘77, the old man came home with an tabletop Amana Radarange Microwave

Looks like this and was built like a bank vault.

When did you take a picture of my kitchen!

It aint that ugly but it was certainly designed in the 70's.

My mom did the same thing. Still got it. Still works.

That kitchen reminds me.of the kitchen of the house that I grew up in, built in 1987. Layed out exactly the same.

There is plenty of adjectives you could use to describe that kitchen but austere and functional are two I wouldn't use because they aren't really accurate.

We had a yellow one similar to that that is in my brother's BBQ room that still works as new.
