How are you getting to the Amtrak station again? Where do you think it would be, on campus?
Princeton had a small line that would take people from a station on campus to the nearest Amtrak station. Something like that on campus would work.

It has also become very expensive, at least on Saints game days

How much?

They’re are tracks that run along Nicholson drive. Put a station off them. Or build a spur.

Put it in that parking lot across the tracks from the practice facility

Dynamic pricing in full effect. My mid-week Round Trip is $38. Busier days will have higher prices.

That route includes a stop in Ft. Walton... a train to 30A would be nice.

stop would likely be in Crestview.... this is where the Sunset Limited used to stop.
Then bus or limo to FWB, Destin, SoWal

Correct. There cannot be a stop in Ft. Walton, or Destin, or along 30A, as there is no rail line going through that area along the coast. Once the rail line heads east from Pensacola, it runs far inland north of I-10, through towns like Milton, DeFuniak Springs, Chipley and Crestview.

This. Isn’t this the line that will carry the BR-NO rail traffic?

Build a temp platform by Alex box that can be used 8x a year.

The plans from a few years ago were on the tracks near Perkins. The BR stops were in the medical district between Bluebonnet and Essen and a terminus near Government and 14th Street.

So, no, not the tracks closer to the river and campus.

Might as well mention here that the other planned stops were in Gonzales, in Laplace (or maybe NORCO), near MSY, possibly in Jefferson Parish (which would probably be near JPAC and Zephyr's Field), and a terminus at Union Passenger Terminal in New Orleans.

I agree with this.. I thoroughly enjoy riding the train when I was in Europe.

Sure, when you are on vacation. But it sucks day to day. I have a daughter in England with three children 8 and under. She goes on and on about mass transit being superior. But I noticed that when her friend’s family visited, and they all went on a trip, the dads went by train while the mom’s and kids took the car. Why was that? Did the mom’s lose a bet or something? No, it’s because traveling by train sucks compared to traveling by automobile.

Also, the trains don’t get you to where you want to go. As I write this, I am in a house in Litton, Buxton, UK. My daughter lives in Nottingham, an hour away by car. To get here by public transportation she has to walk about two blocks to a bus stop; take a bus to a train station; transfer to the next train; take the train from Nottingham to Chesterfield; transfer to a bus; then she has to transfer to another bus in Wardlow-Mires. That friggin sucks! Keep in mind that it’s raining about 30% of the time.

The big miss here is that they don’t have a stop for the airport in Kenner.

20 in gas - seems low
30 in parking
Dealing with a ton of traffic and cars on the road.

Can’t drink because you have to drive to / from Mobile.

I’d pay the money if I lived in Mobile for sure.

Sounds like her location isn't ideal. I live in Germany and love the public transportation. It's a 3 minute walk from my house to the train then 15 minutes to downtown. My car stays parked from Friday evening to Monday morning. I drive for work simply because I work 1 town over and it's straight autobahn for me, so super fast.
