Amtrak - Worst Website Ever?

It’s unbelievable how bad it is. I’ve tried several times to book a trip, and I just can’t because they make it very hard for you to determine when the trips are available, what stations you can go to/from, what the price will be, etc.
It’s no wonder that they’re always in the toilet and always need federal subsidies to survive. It’s almost impossible to get a trip booked. I have no idea why they haven’t come up with easy-to-use interfaces like the airline industry has.
Anyone else have a similar experience with them?

I just spent about 90 seconds downloading the app, continuing as guest and found a trip from DAL to CHI lickety split. Try that.
Ain't cheap

Amtrak is almost fully subsidized by the govt. You need to reset your expectations.

Clemson’s TigerNet is the worst

Not to mention it will take hours or days longer to get to your destination and you may end up having to pay more for a ticket than a Spirit flight.
For example NOLA to LA, Spirit has a non stop flight for 55 dollars pretty much daily that is a 4 hour flight. Meanwhile Amatrak Sunset Limited only leaves on certain days and is a 46+ hour train ride for 175. You can also book a private room for more than a grand each way.
Nothing will compare to the simplicity and quickness of air travel. That is why even high speed rail is a money loser. Heck Spirit has a daily flight to Houston for 20 bucks from NOLA. I know with Spirit that is before the baggage fees, but still you can't beat those fares and transit times.

Been riding Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor for 16 years. Website is easy to use and the gate/ticket agents are courteous.

I’ve never had any issues with the app. No frills but pretty straightforward.

I have not flown with them. Are the seats small?

Hilton's is surprisingly shitty, as well.
They've rolled up a lot of properties, and seemingly spent 0 on IT integration.
