9 Tattoo Trends That Are Dominating 2025

“Tramp stamps” are having a renaissance

Tramp Stamps

The lower-back tattoo that was popular among women in the ‘90s (“tramp stamp” comes from the mocking that women would receive for this placement when it would peek out from under a cropped shirt) is having a renaissance. Tattoo artist Melissa Martell has seen more clients request this placement in her Cleveland-based studio, noting that the lower-back area is also “the perfect spot” for a large decorative piece. But it’s not just the placement that's getting a reboot—the once-controversial moniker is being embraced by Gen Z, too. “Women are reclaiming negative stereotypes, which were once used to disparage them, as a form of empowerment,” Martell says. As for the types of tattoos that are popular for the modern tramp stamp, she says they vary from floral and ornamental designs to bold abstracts.

What happened to all the tramp stamp women? Feels like I haven't seen them out in the world in years and there's no way they ALL overdosed or committed suicide.

Only good tattoo trend would be that of its going into obsolescence.

Never would have imagined and still befuddles me. Members of the Armed Forces and bikers back in the day....now, the non-tatooed are in the minority

No, no. I’ve been assured by the deep thinkers on here that tattoos in no way signify lack of judgment or impulse control by the recipient. In fact, they are the markings of sound, professional members of society.

We've done a full 180° - office and retail workers have more tattoos than truckers.

Author wrote story to make herself feel better.

"Tramp stamps" are better than the "doodle pad" collection of random tattoos with a septum piercing combo but just my opinion.

This frequently used phrasing cracks me up every single time.

"Dumb women who make dumb decisions still make the dumb decisions, but now they make the dumb decisions on purpose because they're strong, empowered women."

Doubling down on trashy: Cleveland

This shite writes itself.

Who cares about a “trend” in Cleveland?

I see this word all the time. Is there anyone out there who still has not been empowered?
