Really? They're surprised Americans are more likely to watch sporting events that occur in their actual time zones at times when they're actually awake and not working?

Stupid.

Netflix, Disney and YouTube are already betting this time is different, considering bids of up to $2 billion for combined English- and Spanish-language U.S. rights to the 2030 and 2034 World Cups.

Where are those located? Because if the country doesn't start with "United" and end with "America", it's not going to repeat these numbers in the US.

I've enjoyed the fans more that the games. The sport is boring to me but it is a worldwide phenomenon.

I love the feeling of superiority it gives me when they say with funny little accents how awesome everything here is

The game times will be pretty good for the US East Coast. Spain/Portugal are 6 hours ahead, so I'd say you're looking at 6, 9, noon and 3 for matches (-1 hour for you Central Time Zone folks). Morocco is the same as the UK, so 5 hours ahead.

Not unreasonable at all IMO.

Although the pride game was stupid, it was awesome that it was Iran vs Egypt

We finally get to enjoy it in real time instead of 7 hours after the fact. Sort of helps

It's so great for liberal Americans to see how great this country really is.

It's been fun to watch. Folks are really into it even after the US team was knocked out. Bars packed for the games. Very cool to interact with folks from overseas.

One of my brothers was at a bar in Waxahachie, TX for the England v Norway match. They said it was a 50 / 50 crowd, and they had a great time.

My son is a bartender in Oklahoma City. He worked during the game and said he made a shite ton of tip money.

Mexico–England turned Estadio Azteca into a crucible of noise and nerves, as 80,000 fans nearly roared the home team to an upset before England escaped 3–2. The spectacle pulled in 46.7 million U.S. viewers.

Best soccer match I've ever seen. Granted, I've watched a lot more of this World Cup than any other, but the intensity, crowd, back and forth, red card drama, etc.... This match made me understand the fascination a lot better.

And it seems we are going to host it again in 12 years.

Alcohol was not allowed in the stadiums (a late U turn by the hosts), but they did sell it in the Fan Zones outside the stadiums. I expect something similar in Saudi.
