When I quit cold turkey a few years after college, it was about a week of withdrawals. I had been a daily user for 10ish years. The withdrawals weren't horrible though. Just irritability and insomnia. Harder to break was just the habit of sitting down with a bowl every day after work, or the big Saturday morning bowl with my coffee.

All you really have to do is not wake and bake.

Did you notice yourself becoming sharper as you quit? Weed 100% dulls you over time even when you're not high and it's something that is tough to realize until you quit. Then it's like, holy shite, clarity

If you smoke all day every day then quit you might have a couple hangover days. Your serotonin being low can make you feel down, poor appetite, hard to sleep. Basically the opposite of being high. I think that's where the band Green Day got their name. Basically don't get up in your feelings, understand it's a very minor withdrawal and you'll be fine in like a day or two

correct

Ive been an on and off daily user for almost a decade. When I quit cold turkey I feel it for maybe two days. I’m a “daily user” but I don’t smoke all day , every day. I can see it being a little bit worse if you’re in that boat.

Not a dramatic change, but definitely noticed being a little more "in the moment" soon after quitting. Less meandering thoughts, less drifting off mid conversation, etc.

This guy gets it. I smoke daily and when I need a tolerance break, it's so hard to fall asleep. It last for 4 or 5 days for me. The weird thing is, in the mornings after little sleep, I feel ready to go and not restless.
Other than that, pot has no addictions. I dipped for 17 plus years and that was an addiction that my body craved. I get no cravings for pot if I have to go without it

Yeah, the only thing I miss about being a daily smoker is always having some available. There are times now where I think a nice THC buzz would enhance the experience, but I rarely, if ever, have any.

think the "stoner lifestyle" is probably the worst thing about pot. Plenty of fully-functioning successful adults smoke pot regularly, but the stereotype of the lazy, forgetful stoner exists for a reason.

Wait- are you insinuating that Tommy Chong isn't just playing a role??

When we spoke, he had been sober for a hard-fought seven weeks: seven weeks of sleepless nights, intermittent nausea, irritability, trouble focusing, and psychological turmoil. There were upsides, he said, in terms of reduced mental fog, a fatter wallet, and a growing sense of confidence that he could quit. “I don’t think it’s a ‘can’ as much as a ‘must,’” he said.

Seven weeks?

Maybe he should see a doctor regarding his underlying medical condition that he was using pot to get through - potentially just seek out some pot that doesn't have the same level of active getting you high as frick portion from a medical dispensary.

As a severe insomniac with ADHD that has been through every available sleep med, I can’t stress enough how much sharper I am when I have some good indica to fall asleep wit, and a high energy satins to help focus and do some amazing work. Granted I am a systems engineer... I’ve been an advocate for years now. My kids are almost done with high school, and whether the Prohibitionist in this state care or not, I will be taking my talents and tax basis out of this state soon enough. It’s a damn shame. A very large majority wants full legalization in this state.. in this country. It blows my mind that there is such a stigma in the leadership of this state against marijuana.

I smoke regularly and had to quit for an entire year. I didn't really feel that different. Sure maybe the first night I couldn't get to sleep, but some of the insomnia at later dates I realized was from the phone or tv. And the reason i was able to sleep with all that blue light was because of weed.

There are definite withdrawals. Of course pot is going to be more mental than physical, but I certainly felt shitty for a while. I'm still 100% in favor of legalization though.

You've got to take these stories of folks from legalized states with a grain of salt.

Were they dabbing constantly? Eating high-THC edibles on a regular basis? High daily from wake and bakes through a goodnight toke? If any of these are true then, yeah, no shite you're not going to feel normal when you stop cold turkey. These are all instances of blatant abuse of MJ, and anything not done in moderation is going to frick you up in one way or another.

A person who smokes a bowl each evening? Enjoys hitting a vape pen while watching Netflix? Eats a low-dose edible every once in a while? There's no such thing as withdrawal for these folks.
