They all suck.

Delta was going to strand me in Houston because they claimed my previous flight was delayed due to weather. Well 3 different people who had the same connection told them it was a mechanical delay, they kept denying and saying it was weather and they owed us nothing. I showed them the picture of the "mechanical" delay from the board before the flight and all of a sudden they were able to hold the plane for us to make the connection. They were going to leave us stranded with no compensation in Houston overnight trying to say it was weather... when it was going to cost them a few bucks the flight was held. Imagine if they wouldn't have dicked with us in the first place and just did the right thing.

My family member went to desk to check luggage. AA guy behind desk wouldn’t acknowledge them. Waited about ten minutes. Guy ask what they needed and said I’m checked in I just need to check this bag. He says it would be faster if they used kiosk. Tried. Didn’t work. Went back to desk and waited. Explained kiosk not working. Said to try kiosk again. Didn’t work. Went back to desk. Guy asked what flight they were on. They said well your flight is boarding in less than 45 minutes it’s to late to check bag. If the person would have not been lazy and did when first asked it would have been more than hour before. They had to stuff all cloths in their carry on and travel companions bag.

This is a little airport and this person is a very frequent Flyer. This instance was the final straw and their whole company is now only using delta even if it costs more.

The only delays I’ve had have been less than 20 minutes and zero cancellations. Luck of the draw I guess.

I will say a recent Delta annoyance was when I had a flight to DC and I got an email saying the flight was cancelled but when I looked on the app it showed On Time. I called to inquire and after a 30 minute hold they said “oh no it’s not cancelled, but the departure time is 5 minutes later than originally scheduled. Would you like to book a different flight?” I said nah I can spare 5 minutes but that was a very dramatic email for a 5 minute delay.

If you want your flight cancelled book AA
If you want your luggage lost book United
If you want some crazy mechanical break that delays your plane book Delta

Been that way for years

AA has a lot to offer seniority wise. Hell my app is still in there last I checked, crickets. I haven't updated it for obvious reasons. I'll stay put for here now. The only place I would maybe leave for is Purple.

damn good pay and work rules, AA isn't a bad place to be in that 50% of the seniority list will be gone in less than 8 years

The old worn out adage "boxes don't bitch" appeals to me. I don't like dealing with people's bullshite. Already had some prick yelling he's going to kill everyone on the jet.

Like you said, good pay and work rules, lots of deadheads. An unfortunate amount of night flying, but hell I've been doing a lot of night flying in the narrow body domestic rat race.

I know you don't won't to hear it but the bus is the shite. Lazy baw's jet. Lucky for me I still have the military to make me feel like a pilot as opposed to a systems manager.

Where are you? FAA has been understaffed for weeks along the East Coast, and airlines have been facing delays and cancellations outside of their control.

Exactly. But our minister of transportation wants to force airlines to hire more employees because he was inconvenienced once versus forcing the government agencies he actually has control over to hire more people.

I don’t mind back if the clock flying. Can’t wait to go to a cargo airline.

you should see what a different galaxy the 777/787, hell even the 757/767 are in, in that regard you're in a great spot, FedEx is, and has been a well kept secret, a lot more day time flying than people realize, a lot less weekend flying, and the deadheading is business class or better the last I heard, although I did hear a rumor about a change in that, depending on int'l/dom

What I don't understand is two things.

1. Why do companies do this? Don't they know they will get blasted in social media for doing this, don't they know the value of long term customers?

But a second question -

2. Why do the employees do this? You might say they are lazy but would the opposite be true, just put you on the next flight, boom, problem solved? If I am a gate agent I don't dick around, I say "Oh, mechanical problem, thats all I needed to know to get you on this next flight...here you go sir..." wouldn't doing that be what any logical gate agent would do, less headaches?

I don't mind it either. Been doing it a while in the 130 and now too at the airline. Not sure how I'll feel about it in 20. Purple is the only place I'm updating my app now FWIW.
