I often sit next to someone who travels once a year and says “when I was booking it was only $220 more for first class!”

I usually do this if I'm not flying on points or miles. I look at the pricing and if it's fair and I'm not crazy about the redemption value for miles I'll just buy the first class ticket.

After a late departure and a cramped lousy flight, the icing on the cake is the 20+ minute exit process.

I have been pondering a solution.

People with no carry-on bag get to exit first. That way we don’t have to wait while every single person has to go find their bag in a different row that’s pretty much too big to fit in there anyway without jostling around.

I've always been annoyed by American's laid back casual atmosphere. Delta at least tries to keep it the slightest bit classy.

Or just buy a first class ticket if you’re that concerned about it.

It's about an hour flight from DFW to BR. If you need to be around her that bad, take it to the mile high club lounge. Don't worry...…. you'll hear allllll about it on the car ride home. As Dave Gahan once said - enjoy the silence

SW8601 left from BTR this morning. I guess that's the LSU charter

That was the alumni association or TAF charter.

LSU football chartered a United 767 and flew back to btr after the game last night.

No. What you did is you purchased one of their ultra low fares that doesn't assign seats, until at the airport. You rolled the dice.

There were no seats available together. Too bad, so sad.

I caught a flight to and from Puerto Rico flying out of DFW where the difference between coach and first was only $110 RT. I snagged it. About an hour later, I looked at it online without logging in. The fare had jumped to a $400+ difference.

Last year, we drove to Tyler, Tx for a RT to Puerto Vallarta because the tickets were $500 less each. I rented a car using points, and dropped it off at the airport in Tyler.

The two legs out of and into DFW were the exact same. It was worth the hour and a half drive to save $2K on tickets for four.

Why is so hard for people to realize you get what you pay for. A seat in the sky to your destination. Splurge $9 on that rum and coke and relax

American was dead last in on time performance last few quarters. It's really gone to shite.

Good experiences with United lately although paying more for things overall.

Hmm. I really didn't think about that.

It's the only non freezing place we can travel to in country that isn't Florida.
Want to take them somewhere. I've done world at some of the busiest weeks. I think we will manage.

IMO Delta is like marginally better than American or United. But the truth is that the big three are more similar than different, which is frustrating. No real options for the disaffected customer.

This isn’t unique to American. Did you buy your seats next to each other?

I was on a Delta flight in June and ended up in first class because most of a family was sitting by me in business classs , but the dad was in first class. They wanted to be together so I took his first class seat.
