E-commerce’s biggest power player is disrupting yet another industry—and this time, it’s landing on Christmas tree farmers’ nice list. Amazon announced this week that it will be offering full-size Christmas trees for delivery to customers’ homes. The online retailer, which started selling smaller trees last year, is reportedly planning to offer seven-footers starting in November, in time for the 2018 holidays. While Amazon often inspires fear when it enters a new market, it’s welcome news for the live Christmas tree industry, which has for decades been battling the convenience and long-term investment of artificial trees.

Good for them, but I love the tradition of going to the tree farm and picking out "the right" tree.

Fine by me.
I have one delivered every year anyway after i go pick it out.
I will probably keep going in person for a few more years still cause the kids like picking out the treee but after a certain age, I’m good with clicking a mouse and it showing up

You really think it will fit in your mailbox?

I thought they did this last year.

Part of the allure of having a Christmas tree is going get the Christmas tree with your family.
But i could see the family coming together and scrolling down an Ipad trying to find the one. that's. just...perfect!

Until it's Dec 23rd and you say "Damn, the selection is turrible"

Finally. Having to deal with getting a tree is such a PITA.

I wish I had that luxury. My wife is ready to get a tree on Black Friday. I maintain that we have to wait till December at least, or at least a cold evening.

Fake tree, fake Christmas.

I wonder the logistics of this. Cant be USPS. Maybe they have some hotshot driving trees around the state from the distribution centers?

Yeah, I'm gonna hold off till Elon Musk enters the fray with autonomous drone delivered trees that land fully lit and decorated and plug themselves into the wall.

From a purely PR level alone this is a bad move. The local guy trying to make a few extra bucks around the holidays is now gonna get ruined by that data crunching job killing monopoly. Little upside.

This. Lowes messed up Christmas trees when they started shipping them all across the country long before Amazon did. You should be able to watch your tree fall off the stump.

I'm an Amazon evangelist but I'll skip this
We live in Atlanta so the farms aren't close, but there is a group of firefighters that cut and deliver them, and will give one to a poor family for every tree purchased. In lieu of being able to easily go cut it ourselves, it's a good Christmas-y option.
