You can save a lot of energy by not using AC in your car and home. AC is a luxury and not a necessity.
If only we could harvest energy from the down votes this incendiary remark will generate.

Car battery volume is not the biggest issue it is volumetric energy density which has increased about 8X over the last decade or so.

Solar is completely stupid and makes no sense from any technical aspect. The sun doesn’t always shine, and having frickhuge batteries isn’t practical.
Nuclear or gtfo
Everything is already "solar" anyway. There wouldn't be a human species without a sun and a planet orbiting it at the correct distance. There wouldn't be people speaking English all over the planet without "wind power."
There are plenty of engineers and serious economists who have devoted their lives to figuring out the most efficient way to take sun, wind, dirt, rocks, etc. and turn them into useful things without poisoning the earth. These people ought to be able to "do their thing" without a bunch of interference from elected officials.

Batteries don't have to be huge forever. Computer hardware like 30 years ago took up a whole room and had less storage than the phone I'm posting from.
Dude we had desktop and laptop computers in 92, they didn't take up a whole room. Their size isn't much different than today.

STOP LISTENING TO THE TV!!!! Oil will never run out! Not in 1000 years. Not in 10,000.
Louisiana and East Texas have a ton of natural gas. Well site(surface location) is not very big after the work.

You know what enabled computers to shrink much? Tech that required less energy to perform the same functions.
The function of a battery is to provide energy.
So the problem you are saying will be solved is shrinking tech that requires less energy to produce energy.
Good luck with that.

They may be harvesting tax credits but nobody is making money from solar in LA by selling electricity.

anticipate some downvotes on this post . I just want the best for the people of Louisiana. Hopefully this will create some jobs. We need to step up our renewable energy resources as a state. It would only make us more resilient .
Can’t go to work if you are murdered.

We don’t make those chips here either.

Yeah they found oil and gas.

One of the main issues that advocates of alternative energy do not consider are transmission losses from the point of electricity generation to usage.
This is why power plants are relatively close to population centers. The power is generated where it is used.
It’s a major barrier for wind and solar farms because the electricity is generated in remote locations. It’s not impossible, it’s just highly inefficient.
Might as well build nuclear plants near population centers. Follow France’s lead. That’s what they have done. More than 80% of France’s electricity comes from nuclear.

I would bet all those climate activists that went to Paris Climate Conference have no clue that France has nuclear power plants.

I’m an “all hands on deck” kind of mentality when it comes to our country and world’s constantly growing energy needs.
One thing that does concern me about where some of these solar farms are being developed, is it possibly taking up productive food crop farmland?

Entergy is a company, energy is a resource. Clearly, you know what you are talking about.

Advocates may not look at that, but engineers do. When a big solar farm in WTX is developed they aren't looking at Austin's demand. They're going to look at Abilene, San Angelo, Midland/Odessa, etc. Then they'll look at the other units say between San Angelo and Austin to model it out.

Just the fact you could compare computing power to electron storage disqualifies you from this conversation, lay off the PEDS

But John Kerry and Joe Biden said it’s too late already so what’s the point ?
