Go from 1 to 15 is great - go from 25 to 27 isn’t that great but your overall score still sucks - 15 sucks compared to 27 - LOL

Almost like he's saying NOT going to school raised reading scores.

La went from 49/50 to 32. Fixed? No, but absolutely worthy of recognition.

They switched to a phonics based system.

I can attest to this, my kids would have phonics homework and I had no idea how to help them with it. I just had to let them do it on their own, and help them read.

Brumley is a good dude and has cut out a lot of dumb shite that wasn't working for Louisiana. He was on the shortlist for Trump's DOE because of it.

I shite on this state constantly, because I'm fed up with such piss poor quality of life here.

Education is how you turn this around. Education is how you lower crime.

Great news.

This board can’t handle positive news about Louisiana.

Because we live here and see the result of Louisiana education and politics.

There is always a caveat to these things.

Leftist rag article: "Louisiana leads nation in most improved".....
Fine print: "Louisiana was dead last in reading, and is currently near the back of the pack."

Again, not hard to be most improved when you are the dumbest kid in class. Show me sustained improvement year over year, then we can talk.

Be on the lookout for stories next year about widespread cheating on these exams because the schools received increased funding from the better scores.

It’s all cheating. None of this is real. Louisiana has figured out how to manipulate numbers that carry no real weight but look great on paper. Maybe the other states are focusing on actually teaching and learning?

According to the graphic, LA schools should be cranking out geniuses, but is that the case? It’s this points system shite that drives those numbers. The “A” school vs. the “F” school mentality… the schools don’t care if the kids learn a damn thing. The only thing that matters is those precious points to inflate that school report card. Take away those school grades and watch what happens. Actual learning may occur. It’s a damn shame the way it currently is structured.

No one has said, great we are 32nd let’s stop here.

changing our states is going to takes years, decades even. If we improve our schools now then when these kids become leaders and adults and managers it will truly be a better state because of them.
