One thing that isn't mentioned is what role drugs played in that night. Its like none of them were exactly sure what they had done that night and were saying what they thought they could remember. Either they were all loaded or really dumb......maybe both?

Honestly, he probably didn't expect the media to actually pick apart so many of his office's screw ups. He was pressured to make an arrest and I think his dislike of both Amanda's attitude (which didn't help her) and her boyfriend caused prejudice with investigators.

There was clearly a lot of arrogance and incompetence there. I'm not sure if that part of Italy has a lot of crime....but they ran that show like a small town police force that had never seen a homicide crime scene where the suspect wasn't laying there dead next to the victim.

She was acquitted on appeal....which I suppose is evidence that the system sort of worked, then they tried her again which to me is just weird.

I thought you were saying he admitted to killing her.

I guess it probably was him and he's just a dumb criminal. Knox is only guilty of being an entitled crazy American in Italy. It makes sense bc I just don't see the boyfriend being involved. He seems like he couldn't hurt a fly.

This. That witch hunt was partially a distraction from massive mistakes made by the investigators. They were clearly unhappy that Knox's interrogation didn't yield a confession with a nice little bow wrapped around it. They were trying to pin it on someone quickly, and not actually investigating. That kind of "conclusion in search of supporting evidence" rush contributed to a lot of errors that led to the arrest and conviction of those 3 boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. Cops had a lot of media attention and needed to close the case.

I'm not familiar with Italian criminal justice, but it looked corrupt and screwed up in this case.

I imagine that the town where this occurred depended on tourism and an unsolved murder with international implications would impact some businesses there.

She was acting like an irresponsible 20 year old that thinks nothing bad could happen to them. When pressed by Italian police, she didn't give them the answers they wanted. The European press also painted her as a spoiled, rich American. I'm not sure if that's true. Her family appeared to be middle class people at best.

That doesn't make Italian justice system superior, and his comment was a clear dismissal of valid criticism that he was not prepared to address.

This is a great example of one of the theories that the Prosecutor accepted as fact. Just because it is more likely that a woman covers up the body does not mean that ONLY women cover up bodies after killing. The Prosecutor latched onto this and refused to even consider that a man may cover a body and that, in fact, it happens all the time. I would bet that women don't slash throats very often either, nor help to rape other women, but he ignored those stats.
