My wife is obsessed, there is a weird phenomenon among women for wicked. There’s a great South Park episode that addresses this

I think it's like some wizard of oz thing that makes the wicked witch sympathetic. But the movie has some weird black chick with no eyebrows the star.

Don’t plan on seeing it but my intuition tells me hollyweird is going to make the attractive one into the wicked witch and that ugly as a dog one into the good witch. But, yes, the craze is weird af.

As a grown straight dude, I loved the Wizard of Oz growing up. I saw Wicked (the play) and thought it was fantastic.
I can understand it isn’t for everyone, but I enjoyed it. My wife wants to see the movie, so I’ll probably oblige her (and I’ll probably enjoy it as well).

She is literally stereotyped by Oz as bad because of her skin color. He uses her skin color to turn the people against her.
So yes, it is a metaphor for racism even if the people weren’t initially “racist”, they became racist based on the stereotype he pushed.
It’s fine and was made in a time when race relations were much better, but it was still propaganda.
