people in Louisiana think about Californians because of monetary jealousy.

I lost some empathy for some celebs when they started GoFundMes for themselves

People need to get out more, if you actually visited California you would find out people are people and it's not really different.

Maybe it’s because I doubt any of these folks blinked an eye when Harvey flooded Houston or Katrina devastated NOLA or Laura mowed over Lake Charles and SW LA.

it’s justice that some of these folks have been dished out a bit of struggle in their life.
Is it "justice" when a hurricane or tornado destroys parts of the south? Or a flood? Or is it only "justice" when devastation happens to people you *think* you don't like. Why is it justice for those in CA but not those in NC?
And if one thinks that in the past the folks in CA thought the people in the South got what they deserve from a disaster, then the people in the South feel the same about the people in CA because of that, aren't they not cut from the same cloth?
There is no "justice" when a natural disaster like this destroys your house/life, regardless of one's politics. Yes, even though some of the people these folks elected may have made policies that contributed to this, calling it "justice" just feels repugnant to me. And then gives them some level of justification for others to call it "justice" when something bad happens to you. Break the cycle, rise above it.

They're just parroting the media loudmouths they listen to all day that caricature NY and CA this way.
Evil Liberal loonies in NYC were draining everyone dry with the 1000s of benefits and fundraisers they organized post Katrina.
Whether you know that or have only seen the negative reflects where you get your news.

This thread is probably not the karma you want to put out to the world.
Good luck to you.

mean, I can feel bad at a human level (I’m sure Paris Hilton is sad), and I don’t think they “deserve it”, but I’m struggling to not feel like it’s justice that some of these folks have been dished out a bit of struggle in their life. I feel like a POS, but I’m being honest.
A bit class war ish for my liking
For the ones with finances to quickly recover - a blessing. That doesn’t mean they have no adversity.
For the ones that actively hurt other people I definitely lose less sleep but I don’t judge that by checking W2s or bank statements

Feel what you feel, but you have no way to know this is true.

You seem like a pretty big piece of shite, to be honest.
Anybody loses their home and all of their possessions... yeah, I feel bad for 'em. Take James Woods, for example. Lost his home. Mel Gibson. Lost his home. All of the rest of them. Lost their homes and memories. If you can't feel bad for that, you have serious problems. Not EVERYTHING needs to be boiled down to "well, what are their politics". Doesn't matter in a situation like this. Their politics, their profession, their amount of money... doesn't matter. They are still humans same as you and I and if you can't feel bad for at least that aspect of it... you need to re-evaluate some things.

I don't feel bad for the celebrities that misuse their public access to preach down on others like their personal views are a gift of God to mankind. Not a single bit.
Everyone else effected, though. These are people I feel bad for and can get behind.
I think that's pretty much where most peoples' feelings on the issue lie.

After having a home nearly totaled during Gustav, I agree. All those people in California saying we shouldn't live in an area prone to natural disasters and bitching and moaning about us sucking off of insurance are probably correct. We and they should all abandon our homes and move to an area without wildfires, and earthquakes. Sarcasm (ON)

Is it ok to care as much as their officials did in preparing to protect their citizens?
