Which is not optimal for real athletics

You are getting down voted (messenger vs message?) but you are right. A low carb intake is sub-optimal for just about every competitive athlete. Which is why I want to know the sports and the specific research for those sports. They have to be outliers I am unfamiliar with.

Never, ever side with your daughter over your wife. You will be in the outhouse for sure. It sucks even though the wife may totally wrong and irrational.

That wife would have seen the back side of the pimp hand after that comment.

Based on lack of a response I'm guessing this is a troll but I'll play along: you missed the correct response. Rather than try to be controlling, you should have waited until she ordered dinner and did not eat, then calmly let her know that you are taking the food she did not eat home and it will be her only option for dinner tomorrow.

The best response is usually a thought out one.

So agree for the sake of agreeing?

This is the most cucked up behavior I’ve ever heard.

I’m appalled.

We are meeting a friend for dinner for her birthday in 2 hours. Step daughter gets home from school and heads to the pantry. I said “don’t eat…we’re going to dinner soon”. Wife is mad and tells me “you don’t tell a teenage girl anything about eating. It’s ok if she has a snack.” But I know if she eats now she will order dinner and not eat it and I’m sick of buying meals and wasting them (and my money). Was I wrong?

How was dinner?

What was the soup de jour?

You've been here for long enough to know that 70% of this board agrees with the premise. Most of the lily livered replies are disappointing, but expected.

I'd tell her to stay home if she eats a snack and you will bring leftovers when you come back.

Or tell her the uneaten leftovers will be tomorrow nights dinner.

If I paid for it they are going to eat it.

So yo will actually get your meal in 2.5+ hours depending on how many people are running late.

no...all these moms always worried about hurting feelings of their teens....frick their feelings. she needs to know...you are about to go eat, dont eat

in the mean time make sure you remind your wife she could go without the snacks too.

I wouldn’t define 2-3 hours as “about to go eat”

Nah, maybe a beer or 2. I have more trouble putting weight on than keeping it off.

there you go

there was a guy that lived in our neighborhood in FL a few years back, way over weight but just had to eat, if a few of us were going out to dinner or having a cookout at someone's house, he would eat a full meal, not just a snack, before the dinner, and have another when he got home
