The fact you ask a public forum the question if you are a racist. Must be to ignorant to not know.

Don't take offense, ignorant isn't a bad word. It just means you lack the proper knowledge on the subject.

People are different, and that's what makes the world go round. I'm sure you do things that would get you made fun of by plenty of people. That's why I give ZERO fricks what anyone thinks anymore, people can't even see their own faults, they only look for everyone elses. Doesn't make you racist, just ignorant...

Please enlighten me. I just don’t see how using slang in a professional news cast is appropriate.

Anyhow, in the middle of a story the reporter in the field drops an "AX" instead of using the word "ASK". She is African American, well educated, and every other word out of her mouth sounds like the King's English. It just sounded ridiculous.

She could just be from the Future.

I’m pretty sure the media company does not intend it’s news broadcast to be a platform for individualism. I’m pretty sure there is some expectation that the news be delivered in a professional manner. Honestly, how she pronounces it on her own time is her business.

Are you white? If so, the answer is “yes”.

Exactly! If the newscaster would’ve come on with a green mohawk the thought process is identical for me. It’s ridiculous and out of place.

I have noticed that a lot of people of French descent in south LA also say axe for ask. They don't, however, say urnge for orange, corn for cone, or shroompfs for shrimp.

I know people of all races that talk like this. They also say "warter" for water.

I have noticed this a lot lately all over different tv shows.

Really though, asked is going to sound a lot like axed.

Not really a racial thing, because I hear it by whites as well as blacks. Although, it does appear much more common with black people on TV.

The afternoon traffic lady in ATL you speak of on WSB radio actually has a legit speech impediment. She also can’t pronounce the letter L. Not even trolling or trying to be funny.

I used to think that I was but realized once I got a little older that I just don't like extremely trashy people. A little bit of trashiness is acceptable.

I just happen to live in a city with a lot of trashy black people. There's definitely still some white trash but most of them moved to various suburbs years ago.

The local radio station where I grew up had a woman announcer who read the obituaries. She had a weird impediment and could not pronounce the word "funeral". It came out "feener-uh". I would have thought that was a pre-req to reading obits.
