Are you fricking with their eggs or babies? Are you kayaking with raw meat around your neck?

You won’t have any issues unless you go around messing with them. If you stay out of their way they’ll stay out of yours. It’s really nothing. They’re scared of humans unless provoked.

the closer you get to their height level, i.e., sitting in a kayak verses standing, the less fearful they are of you

Yeah. No worries.

Crocs? I don’t know about American crocs, but gators are chill AF. We swim in Lake Martin, where they have some big boys/gals.

I get they are highly unlikely to mess with you, but if for any reason they do, you’re fricked, so why leave it to a wild animal’s discretion just so you can float down a river?

Just bring a roasted chicken with you. You see a gator, toss the chicken as far away as you can. Once it's eaten, it'll take a nap. Gators are notoriously lazy and won't likely frick with you unless they're hungry. If one does, pop it with your paddle and it'll likely decide it's not worth it.

it’s not so much laziness but they have a very delicate digestive system believe it or not

Grew up water skiing and swimming around them, without thinking about it much. But I don't bring my small dog kayaking anymore. No reason to push it by bringing bait.

I did a 100 mile canoe trip down a river to the bay in the Florida Panhandle. There was not a moment when we didn't see gators. But they are boring, they leave you alone. It was more of a risk when we camped at night than being on the water. The sturgeon jumping is what you really have to watch out for.

Not really though. Don’t get me wrong I don’t WANT to get attacked by an alligator, but if they are attacking it’s generally in shallowish water and most of them are 6ft or less in length. It wouldn’t be great but your chances of surviving are pretty high.

frick I used grab the small ones out the water and throw them at my brother when we hooked them fishing

Do you avoid the woods and mountains, too. There could be predators after all...

I kayak fish in Reggio/Delacroix/Hopedale region. Have seen my fair share of gators. We can’t get closer than 50 yards to one. They’re not wanting to mess with us. H

I kayak anywhere, and growing up we used to water ski in water with alligators. Gators dont want to eat people.

A lot of gators and kayakers behind my house. There has never been a reported issue.

Always remember the story about a South African kayaker who was going down the Nile doing an expedition with a whole group. Crocodile grabbed him out of the kayak never to be seen again. Tough way to go.

Someone posted it earlier. Bad way to roll but he knew the risks.
