I was searching the truecar website last night and I find the price online and send an inquiry concerning the car.
The price listed was attached to the ad. I get a call from the salesperson this AM and she checks and the price the dealership has is listed as 3k more than the ad. Am I getting the shaft or is this a popular ploy to get interest? She said she would call me back.

She calls me back and said that the car price was not correct but they would honor the price in the ad. I am skeptical when she said the "dealership would take the hit" if I buy it.

All of the above. Threaten to report them to the BBB for bait and switch.

Sure the finance manager would approve the sale.

This happened to me at Price LeBlanc once. Car was listed online about 6k under what was on the window. Sales guy told me the lowest he could get was 3k lower than sticker. I called him out and the excuses started flowing.

its called bait and switch and its illegal other than them putting tiny little disclaimer of the stock number under the car and there is only 1 of them.

Tell her that your lawyer will be contacting her for false advertising unless they drop the price 4K.

Had that happen to me several times. Just tell them they shouldn't advertise prices they don't intend to sell for and hang up. They'll find out it was a mistake and they actually can sell it.

Guy at Toyota dealership down here spent two hours trying to sell me a truck at "their absolute bottom", until I showed him the price they had listed on their website. He got angry and walked off.

If you feel like you're getting the shaft, you are. If you feel like you're getting a good deal, you're getting the shaft

Games. The True car price was probably an average sells cost. They are making money.

Screw em.

You have them in the corner now. Tell them you want another 3 grand off now because your valuable time was wasted.

Everything they say is a lie. If you want the car and you think it's worth the money, buy it. If not, don't.

This wouldn't happen to be a Nissan dealer in the greater New Orleans area, huh?
