Why did Obama target Alton's kid and not the many other families members who have lost someone to an actual violent senseless crime?

I have nothing against the kid.
I have ten times more respect for Obama for meeting with this kid than when he offered to open up the White House to the "I built a clock and they accused me of terrorism" punk.
Out of all of the people in this current crisis, this kid is the best option for Obama. He isn't an activist making demands or a mom who raised a criminal or a wife who stood by one. He's the most innocent person on that side of the debate.

I've already addressed that and said things like this, for Obama and any other president, are nothing more than a publicity stunt. It is done because the administration thinks it is a net positive for them, nothing more, nothing less.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over a meeting that nearly half the country says they'd turn down anyway.

The kid got up there and said what he wanted to say. Did he prepare? I'm sure he did. Was it some professionally written speech? I highly doubt it. It sounded to me like a mature 15 year old trying deliver his own message.

Agreed. Why is the president spending his time on nickel and dime BS, period? The country is going to shite and he is worried about one tiny irrelevant situation that happened. This president is no leader. A leader solves problems by checking them at the door when they start.
