Why are people continuing to run with the narrative that he was going for his gun? There is nothing at this point to show he was going for his gun.

Because there's nothing that shows he wasn't, either. Couple that with the fact that he was actually carrying a weapon and had resisted arrest? You have a somewhat reasonable assumption.

This goes back to my point about the decision to tackle him. You've made it clear this was a tactic that is difficult to execute on a man that size. If you know that man also has a gun and is disregarding your commands and your Taser, is tackling him a wise choice?
- You believe he has a weapon
- You have seem him completely disregard two Tasers
- You see how large he is
- He's shown no signs he plans to listen to you
- He's not actively pursuing you or fighting you
I'm sorry but I fail to see the logic in tackling him at that point.
