Oh no I agree completely in this circumstance. My point is there are blanket statements ITT.

No one is saying that as a universal truth.

I disagree, that's exactly why they need to comply especially if they think you may have a gun or anything on you and you're resisting in the least bit. All it takes is maybe a second for a cop to die.
Chad, I'm not suggesting this situation wasn't a justifiable solution, but treating this as some sort of lesson for those that are disobedient is ridiculous. You shouldn't be forced to comply because the cops can justifiably kill you as soon as they feel threatened. You may see it as different means to the same end, but that isn't the message that should be shared from LEO IMO.

Ok. And?

almost every instance where we see cops confronting someone with a gun, this is exactly what they do
they have guns drawn on the guy and are yelling for him to drop the gun
Apples and oranges. He didn't have the gun drawn. It's better to keep him from having a drawn weapon in the first place.

if he turns the gun, they shoot
so we need to make up our minds if they knew he had a gun or didn't
They knew he had a gun, but he wasn't standing there holding it.

He wasn't shot in the head.

My point is that non compliance doesn't necessarily mean you should fear for your life. Sometimes someone with mental health problems isn't going to comply. Or someone with too much to drink. Or someone on drugs. Non compliance =\= deadly force.
Agreed. I actually thought this may have been the case but if they are in possession of a weapon then the cop should have a right to protect himself. Should he lose his life?

So what am I missing in all this? Why is this controversial?
I'm really failing to see the issue with this case.

do y'all carry this belief to all forms of government?

That video doesn't look bad to me.

Perp is tackled and restrained on the ground and has a gun in his possession.
Cop restraining him is holding him at gun point. Cop pulls trigger. No evidence of perp reaching for a gun.
It doesn't seem like a hothead cop. It seems like a justifiably scared cop who made a life ending mistake. If we hold cops to a reasonable standard then this guy should be roasted.
If I start a fight and you hit me in the face and I shoot you dead because I "feared for my life".. well, I'm probably not going to face the harsh consequences I should.
