Thankfully, I don't do FB. But I gotta say, I've always hoped BR wouldn't have something like this happen. It's a powder keg. This may very well be our Ferguson. And when things like this happen, people tend to ignore facts and simply convince themselves of the facts fitting their agenda. You can see it in this thread.
But when the violent people in BR do it, it could get ugly for those who aren't minorities.

Nothing in that video contradicts the officer's statements.

Bc if they don't actively see the suspect with his weapon drawn they aren't going to show up with theirs drawn. They will have their hand on their holster and talk to him. Which is exactly what happened.
So what's the problem. They knew who he was, they knew his record. The call was that he had a weapon. I'm sorry but all he had to do when they approached him was put his hands in the air and let the officers know he was carrying a gun and ask them to come and take it while they questioned him. That would have saved his life.
Instead, he chose to act like a thug and resist arrest. Well, that's exactly how he was treated.

'm not suggesting they should have done that
I know.
I disagreed with This

the same people who are defending the tackle would have defended drawing their weapons.
I'm defending the tackle but I would not defend the cops showing up with their weapons drawn. Hence, why I quoted that.

People on Facebook are saying the cops hunted him, killed him, and then planted the gun on him.

Don't fight the police no matter what your skin color is.
It is not hard.
It is not hard.

The people on Periscope filming, especially the woman trying to pull off the Danaerys Targaryen look with the white weave, are hilarious.

ell then why say it?
Because you or someone said that you shoot to kill to keep a suspect from making up a story.

And I bet that if they would have approached him with guns drawn, and shot him when he didn't immediately comply, you would be criticizing them and suggesting they should have chosen a different route
I'll be the first to tell you that others would have major issues regardless, but I wouldn't be one of them. I don't even have a problem with the tackle as much as I'm simply asking whether or not it was truly the lesser of two evils (tackling him or drawing their weapon at that point).
I've never advocated they should have shown up with weapons drawn, but even if they would have it would be understandable given the call from dispatch.
I'm not trying to frame them in some sort of gotcha moment. I'm asking the question and I'm sure it will be addressed by the appropriate parties as this unfolds.

quote:No one can tell whether he was or wasn't. The only thing you can clearly see is his right hand is apparently still free. It comes into view then moves down towards his waist out of view just before the shots are fired. Was he going for the gun? Was he just trying to get his elbow out from under him because it was pinched? Was it just an involuntary reaction? No one knows, but it was close enough to his weapon that the cop feared for his life. The look on that cops face is remorse for a life passing and relief that it wasn't him lying there.
did he even remotely look like he was reaching for a gun?

You are correct with out a doubt but now if you aren't of color you should be ashamed of protecting yourself and family from those who choose to break the law

I'll just downvote you for having 5 pages of posts on this thread, which is frankly quite sad. Not for being an ignorant, race-baiting moron that stands for everything wrong with modern American culture.

He actually said earlier that the killing is justified and the victim could have prevented it
