The measure required seven votes to pass, but only garnered support from six council members: Chauna Banks, LaMont Cole, Donna Collins-Lewis, Erika Green, Chandler Loupe and Tara Wicker.

Why would Chandler Loup (and even Tara Wicker) vote to reward this criminal's family? They deserve absolutely nothing from the citizens of Baton Rouge.

The family is going to get money, it's just how much at this point.

The known of $5 million or the unknown which could be less or possibly more.
Most likely less if you use precedent from the Katrina shootings whose families got less.
Keep in mind those officers were found guilty and sentenced.

They will end up settling.

They'll just keep voting until it gets approved (which it will)

It’s such a fricking scam. Tara Wicker already said she is bringing this up for a vote AGAIN when the new council gets seated. She is absolutely chomping at the bit to give our money away. And I love how his attorneys keep threatening that now they are going to get bigger money. Yet they keep hoping this move gets approved by the Council. They know they aren’t going to get shite in court. City will take this to a bench trial and beat it in two days.

What they should do, is offer them the equivalent of the city’s attorneys fees and tell them it is a one time only offer.

Chandler Loup quit doing his job years ago. He’s just marking time. Someone says he threw in with the ambulance chasers so I’m guessing he thinks this vote will help his business.

Wicker was thought to be some moderate who could beat Broome in the mayor’s election. She voted to ignore counsel and give 5 million dollars away. She was also caught not filing her state tax forms , protested snd went before a judge snd fell flat on her face.

It’s good that Loup is out, I don’t know as much about Wicker but many here like her, why I do not know.

She wanted the parish to write a guy a $25k check because a residential garbage can provided by the parish fell into a ditch during a storm, clogged a culvert, and flooded this guy's house. She said since the parish owned the trash can they were liable for the damages.

I think those fans are owned by the company who holds the contract. Regardless, that’s insane.
