Everyone I know that has "unlimited PTO" doesn't like it. It's also just a way to get that PTO liability off their books imo.
That's easy to understand. They don't know their bosses well enough to know the limit. Since it's not defined, people stress about it.
Structure is actually a good thing.

5.85 hours a paycheck. 19 days total with 10 Holidays.
Is what it is but I'm a new hire.
Fortune 25 company. Would not negotiate PTO.
We apparently have Flex time where you can take off for up to 4 hours a day though without having to claim time off. Thats a cool laid back perk to past places.

I worked on my wedding day, during my honeymoon, and the day my last child was born. I just accepted I’m always on call, but the gig comes with lots of perks and flexibility, and to not bother putting in PTO anymore.

I struggle to take my days most years. I'd probably take less if it was open ended for sure.

21 vacation days
3 personal days
2 floating holidays
12 holidays
That's 38 days off, and I have up to 7 days to use for medical/sick days and I can use these in half hour increments if I want to.

I don’t get any PTO. The trade off is I get $8 more an hour. I come out ahead

My biggest gripe is how few hours I carryover. I only get like 24 hours

My previous Job had unlimited sick time and regular PTO separated. You would not believe the people near death every Monday morning there. It really got abused a lot. This job combines the two which i'm fine with since i really dont use much PTO and end up selling back some when they offer it.

Lotta teachers in this thread with so much paid time off work.

I used to think like that, but then a retiring coworker talked to me as he was leaving late and I was still working (around 8pm).
He said if you died in that chair tonight, people would come to your funeral, tell your family how missed you are, then your chair would be filled the next day by someone else. He didn't say it to suggest you screw off either, it's just that people move on rather quickly in the business world. At the end of the day, you're just another brick in the wall.

I get 26 days off including vacation and holidays.
Decent enough.

Started with 4 weeks of vacation because they counted my years of industry experience.
Two years later I got an email saying I had hit another level and would would get five weeks.
With the flexible work schedule it all works out pretty well.

Own my business so zero PTO for myself

But frickkkk that. I graduated and went to work in Tech Support in Dallas right when Office Space came out and I still support and stand by this quote.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work
We get 4 weeks of PTO and a 11 holidays(2 floaters I think). I get to WFH 2 days a week and we're plenty flexible for more when need it(like tomorrow).
Can't complain at all.

I'm not a baller by most definitions. I'm retired. But I really don't understand anything you just posted. If someone could translate in simple terms, I'd appreciate it.

Everyone gets 5 days of PTO at the beginning on the year regardless of tenure. I think it’s kinda low but it is what it is. OTOH, I do get get 3 weeks of vacation and they pay us 9 hours instead on 8. We are also off every major holiday.
At a previous job, we would accrue 4 hours of PTO every month. That was freaking nice since you wouldn’t have to worry about regaining PTO at the beginning of the year like my current job.

8 hrs Annual Leave and 4 hr Sick per two-week pay period, can carry over 240 annual each year.

Some companies and most govt jobs accrue your vacation time(Paid Time Off PTO) hourly each pay period.
he's wondering if his rate of accrual is good by OT standards.
