Good on y'all for not overspending, no problem with this at all. We celebrate our birthdays cheap but have a big house party for the kiddo's.
But...
Why say it's an "alpha" move, when you know that if she begged for Middendorf's or whatever, you'd have happily spent another $50?

A self-proclaimed OT Alpha "allows" the wife to just scramble the eggs for his breakfast instead of making him a perfect quiche on her birthday, right?

The whole alpha-beta delusion is hilarious to me.

It's a good thing she's getting up there in age, you won't be as devastated when you find out she's banging the yard boy...it's time for a new model anyway.

People who have to announce they are alpha are more than likely not alphas.

Either way you have to admit this was a total alpha move on my part, that much I can tell you.

Where I take her to dinner won't change that. And at least you didn't waste money when you do find out she is banging other bros.

Seriously, I'm just messing with you. But what if she became indignant when you pulled up to Chipotle because she expected Ralph & Kacoo's, would it have been beta to change your plans? Are crocodile tears or road head a variable in this decision?

I would have told her she is ungrateful and headed straight back home. You almost gotta treat em like a kid, that's the key.

Nah. This is what happened...

Mrs Patrick: "Babe, all I want for my birthday is for you to ask your mom to watch the kids so we can go to Chipotle, and then have the house to ourselves to get drunk and watch Game of Thrones."

Patrick: "As you wish."

Alpha would be taking her somewhere for her birthday and making her pay. All you did was be cheap.

My wife's birthday was last Monday. She wanted to eat Panera for her birthday so we did that, but we had already been out to celebrate her birthday on Friday with a couple friends and Saturday with her parents, so its a little different.

I offered to cook her something nice, and she just said Panera.

I went vegas during my 10 year anniversary and left wife at home. Flew there to see a concert. Come back with something better.

So fricking dumb. I thought the "alpha" move was to spend big money. You don't need to spend a lot for a wife's birthday if you put some effort into it but that is just stupid. Spend $40 more and go to a sit down restaurant with a wine list.

I know a guy who took his wife to Burger King for her birthday. Dutch treat.

Surprisingly, they're no longer married.

You cannot be alpha if you use the word "wifey". Downvoted.

When did alpha turn into being forced to not only eat shitty food, but having to pay for it as well??

Maybe if she would have cooked you a steak on her bday it would be something to brag about. But this is just coming off as trying to mask insecurities.
