I'd be curious how many homeowners have a net worth below zero.

I'd say half of all homeowners under 35... if not more.

Mortgage lending just looks at the ability to make payments, not a balance sheet. If you put down 3-5 percent to buy a house in the last few years... have more than 50K in student debt... very likely negative net worth

These studies are so pointless. With the ability to pick your sample and ask directed questions, you can create any statistic you want.

This number is also meaningless without roper context.

87.3% of people believe them, whether they’re actual statistics or not.

Bought a house at 26.
Zero down with a monthly note of $902...
Worth probably 15% more today than three years ago. No remorse here.

I definitely have negative net worth unless you count my house as an asset rather than debt...
But no student loans or car note.

Your house is an asset. Your mortgage is a liability.

So if my house is worth more than what I owe, and I have no other debt... am I out of negative net worth?!

Bernie was just the flavor of the day, but he received way too many votes in the primary, and that’s scary. Communism will likely never take this country by force, but getting voted in is not out of the realm of possibilities when a man with Bernie’s message gets as many votes as he did.

I regret mine even though it is close to paid off.
Put 35k down at the time to get my note at $500 a month which is very reasonable on a 30-year mortgage. Then replaced the countertops with granite and put in wood floors. I bought an older home in a good subdivision but whoever owned the house before only did the cosmetic stuff when they went to sell, I've found soft spots in the roof (roof is less than 3 years old when I bought, they replaced it but did not fix the areas that leaked previously) also they had foundation issues which were not on the report I had done and the one from the person I bought from, no one noticed these foundation issues because the cracks were touched up with fresh concrete.

I've spent way too much money on the house that even though I can sell for more than what I purchased I would be losing money right now.
