So…just to keep record. This isn’t to judge one way or the other on opinions about abandoning BR or LSU. What events have transpired over the years that led to deaths of students or folks near campus? Ben Wynne Max Gruver DTL victims Sean Vincent Gillis (close to campus, or no?) Someone mentioned Posey murder Edward Gay apartment invasion Drunk driving incident on Indian Mounds Kipp Gullet murder
Kassie Federer - chased into her apartment and murdered

Not only do you have parents refusing to send their kids to LSU...you have BATON ROUGE PARENTS refusing to send their children to LSU.

Are you sure you're not thinking about the IHOP, where they waited for the guys to come out on their smoke break and had a series of stolen cars stashed around they either burned or used for their getaway?
Someone put a hit out on someone working at IHOP?!?!?! SMDH lawd have mercy.

The Guardian Angels in New York were able to patrol specific, isolated spaces like the subway. Where would they patrol in Baton Rouge other than Tiger Land? LSU wouldn’t allow them to patrol campus and there would have to be huge numbers to patrol the entire city.

Yes, and guess what time of the day this hit happened? If you said 11am in the morning, you win. Yes, the hit happened on their smoke lunch break.

They were there as part of a work release program and I think they had robbed a drug house in NBR.

I understand.
When LSU presents itself the way it does, doesn't take an active role in acknowledging the problems and assisting (or at least being a voice) in fixing it, any logical person would make the same decision.
People that are arguing simply don't want the truth to be the truth. It's denial.

"In the morning" is redundant. 11 am is always in the morning.

We are taking our son on an tour of the Arkansas campus when we visit for the game this year. Will probably do the same for a couple other road games. We won’t be back for a home game this year and LSU is off the table for our son.

I mean, that's going to happen. Both sides are going to see it (or want to see it one way). Honestly, I am not sold on either one. If its either one, it wouldn't surprise me.

I wanted to make sure that the person didn't think I meant 11pm. I wanted to emphasize that this was peak time between breakfast, brunch and early lunch traffic. This kind of stuff only happened in the early 80's Cuban crime wave Miami area with that level of hit job at that time of day. Scary is an understatement.

Common sense would be if she was having issues with an ex or just ended a relationship that would be one of the 1st things the cops would know from talking to her friends & family
Posted on 9/21/22 at 5:21 pm to LSUJML
Immediate family, lovers and ex’s are the usual suspects. Random attacks are relatively rare and much more terrifying for the public. If BRPD are saying it’s random, that means they’ve likely ruled out all the usual suspects before making the random announcement. Random crimes are hard to solve and piss off citizens. They don’t want to call this random if they don’t have to.

This is part of the problem. White people don't generally protect their own.
Closing ranks and trying to obfuscate doesn't help anyone. A white person would've already been ratted out.

District Attorney Hillar Moore told WBRZ on Tuesday that federal agencies like the FBI, ATF and DEA were helping with the investigation locally. Moore added that detectives have investigated every tip they've received, refuting claims on social media that police had not taken some witness statements. He echoed those sentiments by Baton Rouge Police saying all signs point to this murder being an "isolated and random act." "They are working their tails off trying to get info they can. There are also rumors as phones are ringing off the hook... People saying what they think happened. I caution people not to go there," Moore said.
I might believe them if a BRPD robbery detective hadn’t lied to me about a robbery investigation. And no it was not a misunderstanding or a mistake, it was 100% an intentional and blatant lie.
Yes it’s the third time I’ve mentioned it in this thread but it pisses me the frick off, people are being murdered by sub human scum that should be in prison for other violent crimes they’ve committed and it’s been going on for years. Enough is enough
I don’t believe a damn thing BRPD or Hillar Moore says.

I’d like to know in what capacity the FBI, ATF & DEA are helping this investigation. Are they actually investigating or providing support resources (ballistics, forensics, etc) to BRPD investigators?

Are you actually insinuating that Baton Rouge is just as safe as Fayetteville, or Oxford, or College Station, or even Ruston or Lafayette?
No I’m saying anyone who was sending their kids to LSU before last thurs night and has since decided not to is being over dramatic. It’s not that hard to understand…if you aren’t dense. A woman was killed just south of West Lee last yr in the middle of the day.
I remember the girl getting killed outside of the Bengal…that was much worse than the one last week…there was a damn substation across the street.

All three agencies have Task Force Officers in BR for one thing that has them working with BRPD and EBRSO regularly. While the particular crime may not be a federal violation (the murder) the federal agents can hit the streets and talk to people in the neighborhoods and pass along any tips or witness statements. They can do this by claiming jurisdiction over any number of things (the firearms crime of violence is a federal violation for one).
Posted on 9/21/22 at 5:55 pm to Topwater Trout
The concern about sending our kids to LSU doesn’t stem from this one particular murder. There have been a few things happen in and around campus this semester added to the already concerning crime of Baton Rouge, in general.
