Presumably, either local or federal law enforcement has informants that may have heard chatter about the incident.

Hmmmm....let's see...

A town run by incompetent, racist Democrats. Check
Racist, idiot mayor that blames everything on White Supremacy. Check
A Police Chief that can't solve anything. Check
A police "force" that is depleted due to policies of said Democrats. Check
A citizenry that is overrun now with this same mentality: Check
A member of the demographic that this group openly hates is killed by one of their own: Check
Police, naturally, can't solve it: Check
Police hoping one of the fine citizens "snitches" despite the culture they openly promote advocating for killing of said "Snitches" Check

And we wonder why this crime won't be solved?

I'm not one to defend BR or its political infrastructure, but you can't blame BRPD for getting a stone cold whodunnit with no evidence.

There's rumors abound about how embarrassingly thin BRPD is stretched. Their once great detective ranks are now filled with younger activist hires who couldn't find their assholes with both hands. And our woefully inept mayor put a chief in place who has single handedly run off scores of vets all over the department. So actually yeah - we can blame BRPD and we should. The reason they can't solve this case is because they literally don't have the brains, nor the drive to do it.

It really sucks too. I've always been pro-cop and I still am. A city cannot survive without a police department and for every clandestine, boneheaded move going on behind the scenes, I see BRPD guys out there who are working their asses off. But I also see a chief who is constantly clipping their wings, promoting the wrong guys, throwing them under the bus, etc.

The Rice family needs to keep the donation train rolling to fund PI's. The only way this one is getting solved is if someone else can come in here and solve it.

100%

At this rate, that's how it'll get solved. Wish we had a mole in BRPD to let us know what they have/haven't done in the search.

They can raise $20 million, it still won’t lead to a conviction.

No video evidence, the gun was either ditched after the shooting or has been traded around multiple times.

Short of someone confessing, there isn’t enough proof to convict anyone.

I don't know what the ghettos are like around your town, but BR's ghetto talks. They talk like it's going out of style. They talk to each other, they talk to informants, they talk on the internet, etc. The problem we have is that BRPD does not have the infrastructure in place to listen and really, they don't care.

There's an invisible line that barely separates upper/middle class people here and the absolute void that is ghetto culture north of Government St. If the ruling class here knew how disastrously close that border is to completely collapsing, I think you'd see an exodus that makes the one currently slowly underway look like a stampede. It's like this hellish sea that every now and then, ebbs into productive society here and then washes back out. It's always been there but it's growing every day, and the forces holding it back are being dismantled a brick at a time.

Luckily we haven't fallen to a spot (yet) where decent people are being murdered here all the time. This wasn't some snitch being shot off Wyandotte St, or some prostitute being burned alive in a car on Plank Rd or some shite. This was newsworthy and not just in white people land.. A young, innocent co-ed is pointlessly murdered on that shred of no mans land by some futureless piece of shite that goes back into that ghetto and literally tells scores of people that he's the guy that did it. Have you seen the Wire? People who murder people there tell fricking everybody. But we don't have the people there who can hear about it? Seriously?

This crime is unsolvable because we don't have people employed who can solve it. Further, imagine what it will be like in 5 years..10 years, etc. You think this shite is bad, dude? Future Mayor C. Denise Marcelle or Mayor Chana Banks are screaming "hold my beer". You think it's hard to solve murders now? Just wait to see how the Mad Max version BR is gonna be. And unfortunately I don't think you're gonna have to wait much longer to find out.

Hopefully so but who has said this?

Many here probably don't have their ear to the ground in North BR

Probably something BRPD put out there to stop the criticism of their stellar detectives.

How was this person who was allegedly killed, tied to the Allison Rice case as her killer? I get tPOS are killed by other tPOS daily, north of Florida Boulevard practically daily, however, this hearsay needs to be substantiated with more facts before it is believable.

Doesn’t matter if during ghetto talks Pookie claims J’Vontae did it.

You have to have some sort of evidence to have any chance of getting a conviction.

Solving is pointless without prosecution. What resolution would her family have only to find out it was some sort of gang initiation/random/wrong car only to have the perps slapped with ANOTHER ankle monitor to add to their collection?

I guess this a cold case now. We had a shooting down the street from my house in an exclusive neighborhood of a prominent doctor and friend of the mayors at 9 am and they know who the pos is lost him in the graveyard and still no arrest a year later. We literally tracked the pos trying to break into houses from 9 pm to about 1 am. We were about 70 cops short which means good fricking luck.

Sounds like BR is in the same boat.

BR is basically Jackson 25 years ago with Ole Miss or Mississippi State a mile or two from downtown.

It was some dumbass hoodrat who probably tried to carjack her and she resisted so he impulsively shot at her while she was in her car.

We had a witness or at least some information unless that's been discredited. It was 2 black guys that were probably messing with the young white girl alone at 2am or they tried to carjack her.

The thing is that the witness said they climbed through the stopped train about 10 minutes before they heard gunshots which would leave me to believe it wasn't a carjacking.

Yup. It’s pretty damn easy to assume the demographic of the killer considering they commit around 80% of the homicidal crimes in BR.
