When you realize that Baton Rouge has a massive inferiority complex in relation to anything New Orleans, this boards obsession will make a lot more sense to you.

Here's a more direct Houston-NOLA comparison: why not take a drive to Michoud in east NOLA and one to JSC. Both are NASA centers.
Or Ames, MSFC, JSC, or Stennis . . .
So much of the criticism directed toward NOLA is tempered because of the demographic that runs NOLA. It deserves so much more.

No it isn't.
I'll show myself out.

Not when you look at the cost of real estate
There is no point in living there if you make less than 150K a year

Seeing how shitty New Orleans has become in the past three years is depressing. Graffiti/homeless/litter is everywhere and property crime has spread to areas that were once safe. Latoya still being mayor is proof that Nola won't improve as the vast majority of residents are apathetic to the city's decline. The positive momentum the city had from 2012-2018 is all but gone.

A food scene better than NOLA? You high?

I lived in NOLA for 11 years and while it is a unique place for cuisine, it's laughable people on the this thread are calling it the best in the world.
It has nowhere near the amount of diversity or depth of Houston. Let's see - who has more and does it better?
Houston - Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Persian, Middle Eastern, BBQ, Steak, Ethiopian, Mexican, Cambodian, Sushi, Central American
NOLA - Cajun/creole/seafood/poboys
Not sure about Italian/Spanish ... either way - enough with the best food in the world nonsense. I've been in alleys in Bangkok that have 10 street carts offering more complex and favorable dishes than all of NOLA

I thought most people here lived in a Houston or Dallas suburb

Compare it to Charleston, charlotte, savannah, or Knoxville and let us know what you think

Can it be Houston provides a better economy, government and way of life?
No, it's foreigners.

Honestly St Bernard Parish, the armpit of the metro area deserves more hate… we’re just toothless, racist, xenophobic white hicks next to the 9th ward who don’t speak proper English. We need to drive to New Orleans to experience actual culture and good food

And Metairie… what to say about Metairie. It’s just people who couldn’t make it in New Orleans who have no other place to go. It’s cheaper but you get what you pay for. A Metairie address will never command worldwide respect like a New Orleans ZIP code, and you’ll never be able to truly experience the food and music scene

Yes, Houston sucks as well. Doesn't let Nola off the hook though.

People who can’t have fun in NOLA have more problems than NOLA.
That being said, I’d never want to live there again.

You sure are making it sound bad. I know some simpletons who come to the city and eat at a few quarter tourist traps and say Nola is all about fried foods and poboys.
If you were to look at a top 25 list here, none of that is in the menu

Food is too emotional and subjective of a topic to have an honest conversation.
Sure NOLA is world famous for their food, but it lacks the variety of different cuisines than New York, Miami, and Houston.
It’s also way smaller than those larger aforementioned cities.
This debate has been and always will be subjective and too emotional to establish a consensus.

Are you like 12 years old or is this what you learned at your plant job and you don’t know any better?
